I'd really like to have someone who has the knowledge and tools to help with permanently disabling the auto-stop feature, also changing the settings so when I accidentally hit the panic button once on my key fob while it's in my pocket it doesn't set off my car horn and wake my neighbors etc. I'd also like to do away with the setting that causes the double honk when I get out of the car. I contacted one local dealer and the first guy I spoke with did not seem to understand what I was talking about. He transferred me to a service tech who acted as if it was against the law for them to change these settings. Very odd. Has anyone had any luck finding someone or even a dealer service dept with the knowledge, equipment and know how to change these settings? I've also called a few other places with no luck. They either do not understand what I am asking them or they brush it off and say "We don't do that." I'm willing to pay someone to do this but here in East TN, I'm not having much luck finding the right person. I do not want to undertake this myself.

Not sure but to turn off the sound of the double lock is in your settings. Sorry I can’t remember. My husband has my bronco today, but I did disable mine…hate that sound also.

I asked my service advisor about using Forscan to stop the stop/start crap now that Trump is going to eliminate it. He said that when that happens, we can talk about deleting it. Until then ...

The "Stop" feature is mandated by the EPA in their rules for a "cleaner environment" so the dealer cannot eliminate it without a violation. It is like removing a seatbelt, that is a NO-NO. That said, you can purchase a FORSCAN tool on AMAZON and they are less than $100 for a good one. Then come back to this thread and search FORSCAN Settings and you can find it. By the way, you can purchase a OBDII device that is plug n play to eliminate the start/stop function as well for $35. and install it yourself or have a local repair shop do it for a few dollars. It simply plugs into the outlet. This also sold by AMAZON and you can search it on GOOGLE for other types. Good Luck. A good repair shop has the tool and may do all your fixes as well for next to the price of buying the FORSCAN Reader. Again Good Luck. Rodger

I heard you, you don't wanna do it yourself, but FORscan is a very friendly software, you can always watch youtube to follow the instructions

There is no EPA requirement for Auto Start Stop. Manufacturers added this for emissions and MPG reasons.

EPA cannot eliminate a requirement that does not exist.

No reason a dealer can't do it as they already received the credit for the feature. It's just an automotive mattress tag once sold.

The EPA does not mandate Auto Start Stop. How can the EPA remove a mandate that never existed?

I never said it was mandated. The manufacturers received a carbon credit for including it if they chose to. Once the car's been sold (or maybe just manufactured), the credit's done and there's no argument for keeping it active. Or were you replying to another post?

I'd love to get my hands on that WSM.
