So I can remote start with the app but not with my fob. Anyone know what would need to be done in order for me to be able to use a fob. Seems like if it can do it from the Ford app it could do it from the fob.
If you check out Ford accessories, you'll find that the Ford Perimeter Plus Vehicle Security System will add the ability to use your existing fob for remote start. It's $215 for parts and $50 to install, according to the website.

I'll check into that.

I installed a Perimeter Plus Vehicle Security System on my 2021 Ranger and am glad to hear it also will work on the Bronco Sport Big Bend I have ordered.

Check out Fairway Ford or Tasca Ford on line. They sell the Perimeter Plus for ~166-175 bucks.

I have the perimeter plus alarm on my badlands. I’m quite happy with it so far. Once it’s installed you can remote start with your existing fob by pressing lock, unlock, lock. Mainly got it for the shock alarm since catalytic converter theft is utterly out of control here. But the remote start is a nice bonus.

i dunno if it was a dealer added item, but yes it came on ours. it's too damn cold up here to not have remote start haha.
We have the opposite problem in Texas. Definitely a must have.

I added the Perimeter Plus system to mine a few months back and I can now start mine with my FOB. It's comes with the Perimeter Plus.

Bringing back an old thread. Did you need to have the dealer program anything after you installed it or did the remote start just start working. Reading the Tasca ford website and it has this comment: ā€œWhen activated by your Ford Dealer, the Basic Remote Start System is also included. start your vehicle from up to 300 away.ā€

If you are installing this kit you most likely don't have a fob with a remote start button. To enable remote start you must install a jumper which comes with the kit. If you intend to have your dealership install the system just tell them you want remote start enabled and they'll connect the jumper during installation.

If you have even a modicum of mechanical skill you can install this system yourself with relative ease and save yourself the installation cost. You can read more about it here:

No they didn't have to program anything to my knowledge, if they didn't they didn't tell me. Also you do not have to have a key fob with the remote start button. I don't. I could have gotten one at an additional cost but you can use the fob without it by hitting lock, unlock, lock and it will remote start the car.

I also didn't have to ask them to do anything to make the remote start work, they installed the security system and then told me I could use my current fob or purchase a new one with the start button. I didn't buy this for the remote start but it was a nice bonus and didn't take them long at all to do.

Thanks folks. Yes, I understand that I don’t need to order the more advanced keyfob. Thanks to your prior discussions it was clear that a certain button sequence would activate the remote start.
yeah, I’ve done lots of stuff like this on my Jeeps and Supra so this will be easy. I just wanted to make sure the dealer didn’t need to program anything once all the hardware was installed. After watching some videos it appears this programming is merely a button sequence of turning the ignition on and and hitting some buttons. Ah,that’s what the jumper is for!
I also found a video where a guy with a Ford transit van said the perimeter plus was already installed and he merely needed to activate it. Weird. Can someone tell me where the secirty box installs so I can go in there and poke around before I order the perimeter plus alarm? I highly doubt it’s already installed and just needs to be turned on but it doesn’t hurt to check before I spend $220. lol.

edit: nevermind. I see the link Mark attached shows everything. Thumbs up
