Cool people drive SUVs with black roofs. I really like the black roof on my Badlands. Had all the pillars covered with Paint Protection Film (PPF) including the portion above the rear hatch - that solved any issue with swirl marks on the piano black plastic. And had ceramic coating applied on the entire exterior - this makes for super easy cleaning including the black roof.

The only thing that bugs me about the Outer Banks and Badlands trims is that we’re forced into the black roof. I think it’s a misstep on Ford’s part, particularly in the desert Southwest. More than just making it harder to keep things cool in our (ever longer) summers, it’s a dirt magnet.

Anyone opt for a lower trim because of that? Have your OB/BL roof wrapped in body color? Just wish Ford made it an option for all trims?
I hate it as well.

I do not hate the black roof I & my wife prefer the body-colored roof. The black roof looks almost like a vinyl top on cars from the 70's & 80's.

I prefer the black. There is something that looks off to me on the BS with a body colored roof.
Totally agree. I really like the black roof look. Body color up there just seems off. Only exception, IMO, is the Emerald green one. There’s something about that one I like. ?

I like the different color on the roof, my Badlands has the charcoal grey top. I didn't get the black top because the grey top is easier to keep clean.

Depends on the color of the main body. Some look good to me while others do not. Take my Cactus Green sport for example. I didn't like it with a black roof and bought the solid color instead. Besides black is high maintenance.

I like the black roof. It reminds me of the '50s Crown Victoria I would see as a kid.

@Dude where did you find those mud flaps?
Those are the Ford Front And Rear Mudflaps Kit $680 if order the vehicle with those (in 2022)

Search around online using the part numbers, I paid $205.67 including shipping for each set. From Levittown Ford. Maybe cheaper now especially if you live in a town with one of the discounted Internet Ford parts stores and can pick up for free.

I wasn't so sure about getting a red vehicle at first but it was on the lot and unspoken for. I convinced myself to get it because my dad had a red '71 Mercury Comet with a painted black roof. I figured if he liked that color combo then I should too and I should grab it while I have the chance. Now I like it more every time I look at it and it's been 3 years. But I get it. It would be nice if Ford wasn't so strict about what should be a simple build request. I'm not particularly sure I care for the Carbonized Gray roof though. For me, a two tone is fine but a three tone (black pillars) becomes too many colors for one car. I hope that doesn't insult anyone with the gray roof. This is only my opinion.

Plan on getting 2025 Bronco Sport
Even if that is true, at least road side assistance would have something to work with, rather than requiring a tow, because of an unrepairable tire.

If I could have known with certainty, that the tire well would still exist, we would have ordered a 25 and bought our own tire, wheel and jack.
Our 2025 Sport Outer Banks does have the wheel well spot for a spare tire along with the kit, if a person wants to have a spare! We purchased the extra warranty so if something does happen, we have a number to call to help fix the tire!

Two tone is a cut above. It doesn't have to be black, but the two tone paint on a car just looks snazzy. I've owned several. It isn't a lot harder to maintain on the Sport. You can hardly ever see the top-top and so it doesn't suffer from the black-paint-on-a-car problem. We all have to deal with the fiddly pillars and shiny black plastic, not to mention the plastic cladding that goes grey faster than you can say "detail". The move to single color paint on the upper trims is absolutely a downgrade by Ford in appeal and value offered.
