Hopefully this will help somebody now or down the road.

Bronco Sport ( and maybe regular Bronco as well)with the GOAT mode switch in the console/next to the cup holders. This has to be one of the worst designs ever so congrats Ford on that stupidity.

The switch is right there and only has a trim piece on top around the turn knob. So it is not a sealed switch at all and again right next to the cup holders.

The wife spilled coffee on the console and the GOAT modes quit working surprise surprise right. I figured the switch was bad but it's a 2023 with like 10,000 miles so we made an appointment with Ford who is $150.00/hour for labor and 150.00 for the switch and could not get it in for 3-4 weeks.

So I got to stewing about it and started my research and found out by digging on this forum that others have had the same issue by spilling liquid of many different forms ( again it's next to the cup holders) on the console.

The switch fits seems 2021-2023 and maybe others. I found some on ebay for like 60.00 out of vehicles with 8-10 k miles and decided to check my local salvage yards that I deal with for work.

They all had some of the vehicles in stock but that switch was already sold out of every one of them and there was no scrap yard stock nationally for this switch. Hmmm have I mentioned it's next to the cup holders.

So I figured for the 66.00 it was worth a shot to save 300.00-400.00 at the dealer. The switch just snaps in and has one wire/clip that plugs in and it took me 2 minutes to remove/install

The first picture is of the complete new/used switch with top trim piece that hides the fact that its a non sealed switch, yes you guessed it next to the cup holders.

The next few are of the switch I took out taken apart. Then just some others of it working again.

So it's working again for less than 100.00 and did I mention its next to the cup holders lol.

It wasn’t clear to me - did you buy a used switch or just clean the switch your wife spilled the liquid on?

I tried some electronic spray but it was shot. When I took it out and flipped it over the coffee poured out of it.

Quick question, is it beside the cup holders? ? Sorry, I couldn’t resist. Thanks for the info. Since you took it apart, did you notice if it’s able to be waterproofed in some way? Just wondering.

Thanks for posting this. I'm always setting stuff on top of the goat mode, so when I use it I have to dig through whatever I laid on top. Absolutely a dumb design. Maybe keeping it covered with junk is a clever plan.

Did the peice around the switch just pop out with a screwdriver?

The OuterBanks won't have the hardware to support the extra GOAT modes etc., so that's why they don't do it. Cheers!

when mine was new. I rested a thermos on top of the shift selector and got a drivetrain (wrench) warning. I had like 2 drinks, my phone, my wallet and several other items cluttering the area. I realized that area needs to be clear, clean and dry. There’s a place for everything.. Had to change my habits.

terrible design down there next to the cup holders.

Sure don t have some hardware but for example has the traction off in sand mode…so this button can work you think?!

Had ours replaced yesterday under extended warranty , $ 100 & used the last of the Ford bucks to pay for it . It's nice when they come to the house , had a passing mirror Module replaced at the same time .

The wife wanted to use the GOAT for a day that it was said to be freezing rain in the morning on the way to work ( odd for Florida )& nothing worked in the GOAT switch , no spills I know of . Looks like the switch rotates but not switching anything , works as it should now .

Funny she said the roads were clear & really didn't need it , go figure .

Noticed today that the GOAT Modes Selection Knob in my 2021 Outer Banks seems to 'free-wheel' when I try to select a driving mode. I thought I remembered the knob having a hard stop at the end of selection options. My knob will select a mode but it also 'free-wheels' (i.e., there is no hard stop at the end of the selection options. Once I get to NORMAL Mode, I can continue to turn the knob CC without any change occurring to the NORMAL selection. Same goes for Clockwise rotation to SAND. Knob will 'free-wheel' if I continue to turn it.) Anyone else have this issue or am I just imagining things. Maybe it's been like this from the get-go. The other driver on this being an issue is I filled the Bronco Sport this morning & it only got 18 MPG, which it has never done! Wonder if Bronco Sport is stuck in SPORT mode. Something definitely doesn't feel right!
