I have just begun my search for my Bronco Sport. I do not intend to do any off roading. I do want a 4x4. I will drive maybe 10,000 miles per year and much of that on surface streets or highway. Before I go into the dealer and start to get the sales pitch, Would you kind folks make suggestions on model and features I should consider. Thank you in advance. I look forward to joining you all as an owner in the next month or two.

I was in the same boat as you, little to no off-roading and about 10k miles/year. I have a 2023 Outer Banks with the upgraded B&O sound system, towing package, and tech package. I think these 3 upgrades are important to me but depends on what you truly value. Or if you want the more budget friendly version, get the Big Bend model with some upgrades. I just wouldn't opt for the $5k price increase to go to the Badlands since we don't off-road anyway.

You basically have three choices. Standard, Deluxe or off road. Sounds like Standard or Deluxe is your direction. Both have the same engine and drive train. The Outer Banks is just fancier as far as appointments compared to the Big Bend.

this is incorrect - you can get off road added to deluxe now ???

True, just as you can add all the fancy stuff to the Badlands. But out of the box they break out into those three categories.

Could you provide abit more info? If you do not want to do any off roading, what is the need for a 4x4?

Dude,

My off roading days are over. The 4x4 is for getting back and forth during bad weather, ie. snow and sometimes driving on country roads. I care for elderly parents and need to be mobile for them when necessary.

ps. I think I’m focusing on Badlands or the upper model Outerbanks. Still lesrning and comparing the features and benefits. Your thoughts?

Escape2Bronco, The only thing that Outbanks offers for me is a leather trimmed interior. I’m assuming you had an Escape before your Bronco Sport. I’m also changing from an Escape to a Bronco. How was your transition?

I had an older Escape (2006). They a very similar size. The ride of Sport is much nicer than my Escape. It feels much more solid. I have the basic Badlands. It has cloth seats which I prefer and rubber floors. I bought it while waiting on the building and delivery of my 2 door full size. My plan was to keep the Escape and sell the Sport once my 2 door finally showed up. After driving the Sport for nearly a year and half before my full size arrived, I liked it so much I decided to keep it and sell the Escape.

Also, the Badlands with the optional tires is great in the snow. The standard tires might be fine as well, I just don’t know that. The Badlands does have a better 4x4 system compared to the Big Bend or Outer Banks plus the 2 liter 4 cylinder compared to the 1.5 liter 3 cylinder of the Big Bend or Outer Banks.

I think it should be noted, though, that the Outer Banks have 18" wheels, and the OEM Michelin tires don't seem to be very good on the snow (my son has a 2023). The Big Bend has 17" wheels, which give you more options for tires having more sidewall and aggressive tread should you need it. That said, the OEM Continental tires on my 2024 Big Bend were awful, with very little tread depth and thin sidewalls. But: you can easily swap them out, and you can generally option out the Big Bend the way you want it. Note: the factory default Bronco Sport Big Bend underbody protection is very poor (and the aftermarket options are currently limited). The $2750.00 (!) Black Diamond option is out there now for the 2025 Big Bend, which includes the skid plate, fuel tank & canister shields The Black Diamond package also includes the much-needed recovery hooks, as well as a tow package.

Living in Iowa and seeing all kinds of weather I chose the OB for it's standard upgrades and added the options for stereo and safety.

Check the packages you want well. Some say included in certain trims, but you actually need to select them in the order menu to get them.

My dealer had a Badlands already ordered, and we just changed the features that I wanted. I completely missed the $800 upgrade to steel wheels and Falken 245/65R17 tires. I'm so glad I did. The tires are great, (and great in the snow) and the extra rubber between you and the road makes for a much smoother ride.

I drove my wife's Hyndai while my Sport was in the shop, and when I got my Sport back I couldn't belive how much smoother the ride was. Her tires are 245/45R19. Rougher ride than my Jeep Liberty with BFG K02's.

My Wife was going to order a 2025 Heritage but for 2025, you can't get a real spare tire, without also ordering one of the off road packages, which aren't available at all, on the Heritage.

That was a deal breaker, for both of us. Seems like a really dumb move on Ford's part. Hard to believe that that sticks.

So, we were left to sort through what was on the lots.

The 1.5L on the Heritage we test drove, seemed pretty underpowered, so that sent us to the BL.

The 25 BL does come with a spare tire but Granger Ford told us the timeline would be 5+ months. I would have liked to had sync 4, rather than 3 but we didn't want to wait that long.
