I’ve seen some people on here talking about this. There’s an exhaust like smell coming thru the vents when I have my AC on now. I changed the Cabin air filter, which was due for me to change. The smell is a bit less but it’s there. Does this possibly have a connection to the Cracked fuel injector CSP? If anyone else experienced this did you get it fixed?

Definitely a cracked catalytic converter. I had this same issue and got much worse over time. Make sure you take the tech on a ride along and make sure they can smell it because if it’s faint they won’t fix it and you’ll get your typical “couldn’t replicate” answer.

What you said pretty much is what happened. They called and said the mechanic can’t find any leaks or problems. I said well then why is there a smell, there wasn’t a smell for the last 3 years. The rep said well if it continues drop it off again. No help as usual from my dealer.

I would take it to a muffler shop. I would think any of them would have a CO sniffer. Carbon monoxide will make you sleepy and give you a headache, right before it kills you.

I will be visting my local Ford dealer with this same issue. I smell exhaust fumes in the cabin. It has gotten stronger to the point where I will nolonger drive it. I have been told that it may be several days before the cause can be found. I will inform them that it may be the catalytic converter. This is a 2021 BS Big Bend with 42,000 miles.

Anyone have any updates on this issue? I've been to the dealer three separate times for a similar burning oil/fuel smell coming through my vents without resolve. The smell gets very strong, and I have to open my windows and/or turn on my internal air recirc. The dealer first stated they couldn't locate/replicate the smell. They said coolant was leaking and went ahead and replaced the water pump and other coolant system items per a TSB. Smell was still there. The second time at the dealer, the service representative came out and smelled it immediately. However, the technicians stated they couldn't locate or replicate the smell after a "thorough" inspection. They said the foreman also drove the vehicle and couldn't smell it. They went ahead and replaced the cabin and fuel filters, and completed an oil change in case this would help with the issue. Smell was still there. The next time the foreman drove in the car with me and smelled the burning smell coming through immediately. He pointed out a small damp spot near a gasket when we popped the hood. They now claimed coolant and oil were leaking (how did they not catch this the previous two times in the shop for a week at a time). They used a dye test to pinpoint the oil leak in the back side of the timing cover. The coolant was leaking from a faulty coolant hose tee fitting. After addressing these leaks, the smell was originally lessened, but has now come back even stronger. I first thought it was old residual oil burning off, but it has been over a month. Not sure what to do. 65,000 miles 2022 Bronco Sport Outerbanks
