Our BS should be here Thursday and one of the first things we want to do is add meatier rubber of course. I've read a bunch of posts, and it sounds like most say the largest we can go without any trimming are 245/65/17 but I've read a few others even showing 255/65/17 without any mods.

I think I've settled on the Falken Wildpeak AT Trail if that matters... So is there a definitive max size I can mount without mods?

Thanks all. I'm sure I'll have plenty more questions in the coming weeks!

I have 245/65/17 Falken Rubitreks on my Badlands, its been 33600 miles now, no problems.

You've picked the right Sport, you'll like it when you get it.

@Jrl installed 235/70R17 Goodyears and claims no interference. That's a diameter of 30". You can use this tire size comparison tool to try variations of width, aspect ratio, and wheel diameter. I think as long as you keep the total diameter under 30" you'll be golden.

There are a couple sizes as noted above. I run 245/65 17 Falken WP AT4s.

They ARE heavy no doubt and she’s a bit slower off the line and lower mpg but Im not looking for that and if you’re the same and want an ideal on/off road, beefy tire with all its amaziness then I highly recommend them. The fronts rubbed the cloth wells ever so slightly at first on full lock but that left after first 2000 miles with no damage to cloth.

They take everything I through at them, handle corners with speed just fine and are just plain beastly beautiful!

I think most folks on this forum install wider tires for looks. I don't care what my tires look like, I want them to work well off road. The trend now is big wheels with less rubber between you and the potholes. It helps with gas mileage, but makes for a much rougher ride.

My dad put wide tires on his pickup back when you had to cut and weld two wheels to make one wide enough for the tire. That truck slid off the road numerous times in both mud and snow. Wide tires are great for sand and rock, but not so much for mud and snow.

When I replace my 235/65R17 Falkens, I'll go with 235/70R17's to get a little extra clearance, and a smoother ride on rough roads.

245/65 IMO look the best and offer perfect functionality. I put on some BFG KO2’s and will not go back to any other tires. I’m sure most people with bigger Falken Wildpeaks feel the exact same as they are also great tires.

It always gives me a nice confidence boost when I take it to the dealer and they talk about how great bigger tires look on the BS. They all agree that it should have had them as an option OR standard from factory.

Looks nice, the blacked out lettering is much better looking than the white letters. Concerning your milaege. Are you going by hand calculations or by the display readings? Changing the tire size will change your mpg on way or another. If you are going by the display you will need to adjust the fuel bias using "Engineering Test Mode", but only after hand calculating a minimum of 3 tanks of fuel, preferrably more for a more accurate number.

Dude, I'm talking about adding a 1/2" of lift with bigger tires. I have a 1-1/2" HRG lift and still scrape the center between the ruts occassionally. With the short wheel base of the Sport, a small difference in ground clearance makes a big difference.

My impression from reading on this forum is that the issue with wider tires is that they rub on tight turns. I don't think a taller 235/70 R17 will have that problem.

Don't know where you landed with this, but I run Falken Wildpeak A/T3W 245/65R17XL on my 21 BS Badlands with no issue. Love those tires.
