I've used the Fumoto ones myself in the past. Found that it takes longer to drain and removed them. Certainly no Godsend....lol. Seems maybe I'm the only one who has no problem with the existing drain plug.
I don't have a problem with them...but then again, I still have 3 free oil changes left from the dealership!

Once those run out, then its me.

When I compared the pic in post #10 to the pic in post #14, I don't see how the ones shown in post #10 will work...they are threaded, and the one in post #14 is a twist style.

You are correct, they won't fit. That's why I posted the picture of the 1.5L 6.6 qt plug. Cheers!

My 1.5L BS has the yellow plastic plug.... Why wouldn't this Ronin plug fit?

According to the Fumoto site, there are five that fit. Has anyone ordered one of these to confirm?

I use the F106SX. Makes oil changes a breeze. I have a metal oil pan though so not sure if it fits the composite?

Any drain valve with threads will not fit the 6.6 qt composite oil pan. Reference the picture I posted above. Cheers!

I bought the Ronin to solve the issue with the oil mess and getting oil on me. I'm gonna put it on when I change my oil. I contacted Ronin with my vehicle information: to include plastic oil pan and yellow oil plug. They told me it will fit. Just not looking forward to this oil change.

Bronco Sport aka "Spark Plug"
takes time to remove panels under motor for oil change
doesn't want the hassle of removing drain plug
something seems off with the reasoning
but wait
there's more
threaded portion of oil release valve may leave a layer of waste oil behind
exactly where the sludge would reside
*endorses full plug removal*

Agreed. Seems like folks would still need to remove the entire Ronin gadget each time, to make sure all the sludge oil gets out, and to clean the magnet on its tip.

The plastic yellow drain plug is not a "normal" threaded drain plug. It is an o-ringed twist-lock type plug. When you remove the plug, the warm oil will come out firehose style, so be prepared!!! The plugs are also supposed to be replaced each oil change, so the durability is not an issue. Cheers!

Ongoing additional cost and more plastic garbage.

It doesn't seem like much of an improvement over ye olde steel bolt, does it?

I agree. I have a 67 Camaro with the steel bolt. Its original and has seen countless amounts of removal and installs.

Still works, with no leaks.

I'm sure the plastic plug could be reused, but you would probably want to replace the o-ring at the least. They probably just error on the safe side and replace the whole thing. On my initial self-service oil change, I reused the old plug without issue. After seeing the specification (forgot where I saw that) to replace the plug each time, I just bought a bunch of them for future oil changes.

I'm guessing that threads in the composite pans wouldn't take as many cycles as the ones in metal pans. Putting in some kind of threaded metal insert probably would have been too much trouble/expense. Cheers!

Cheers!

I have a quick drain on my airplane. It is all brass, has a positive cut-off valve, and allows connection to a hose to avoid spills. I would want the same features before putting one on my BS.

I changed my oil to and installed my Ronin oil plug after I removed the original yellow plastic oil plug and got a serious mess. Yes Ronin is a godsend in my eyes because now I don't have to worry about the big mess I used to always get. I love my Bronco Sport and this will be one more reason to love it. No more of what you see in the pictures! Hell yes it is a godsend for a hands on guy like me!
