It's called the Ronin oil drain plug. It's an upgrade for Ford vehicles with the yellow plastic drain plug. If you change your own oil this will be a godsend. It's kind of expensive at $60 but it was a no brainer for me.

What's wrong with the drain plug? I have no problem with it. What's so special that a new plug will be a "Godsend"?
Looks like a quick-release mechanism to easily drain the oil without mess. I would also assume since the other is plastic, there is concern about long-term longevity and health of the threads. Although, you could likely damage the plastic oil pan if you are a klutz with the new plug or go to cheap oil change places.

I've used that drain plug on many vehicles before back in the day when I did my own oil changes.. It is nice to have as you don't have to take the drain plug off.

I like the twist valve type drain plugs as well. Too bad there does not seem to be one for the BS yet.

According to the Fumoto site, there are five that fit. Has anyone ordered one of these to confirm?

I've used the Fumoto ones myself in the past. Found that it takes longer to drain and removed them. Certainly no Godsend....lol. Seems maybe I'm the only one who has no problem with the existing drain plug.

I liked it. No wrench is needed and no hot oil on your fingers or drain plug falling into the pan. The 6.7qt pan doesn't need a wrench. So if I was still doing my own oil changes, no need for the Fumoto valve.

Nah. FWIW, I never changed it even on my Mustang. I don't understand all the mania either. ?

The plastic yellow drain plug is not a "normal" threaded drain plug. It is an o-ringed twist-lock type plug. When you remove the plug, the warm oil will come out firehose style, so be prepared!!! The plugs are also supposed to be replaced each oil change, so the durability is not an issue. Cheers!

I looked at getting one when I got the car (I have the 2.0 btw). Some valves fit and some did not. It has to do with the x-clearance. You need to be able to thread the valve in and that takes a bit more space than it needs to operate. The more convenient valves like the long nipple and the spinnable ones interfered with some frame piece. There are a number of different pan configurations now. Someone else could probably help you more than me, but what is the capacity on your particular vehicle and is the pan metal or plastic? Engineers not making it easy to get simple answers like that.

Fumoto is a slower drain. Wouldn't bother me much. I'm willing to crack it and go away from the project. I've never changed oil in a hurry. Even if you dump it quick, you wait a while for the trickle on this synthetic stuff. I want to get as much out as I can, unlike the Jiffy Lube place.
