Crusin home at 2 a.m. after work in my MGB convertible, top down, heater blasting, listening to the Doors, Light My Fire! To be young again.
So that again harkens me back to my tour in the Marines. Same desert. Same trips back and forth to San Diego and Los Angeles, over and over.

LA Woman is a masterclass for cruising music.

And don't even get me started on 'Riders on the Storm'.... how much time y'all got?? ?

I was stationed in 29 Palms for almost two years. For those of you who don't know its smack right in the middle of the Mojave Desert. Getting to and from the base involved long stretches of drive through empty desert.

My go-to album, especially in the desert at night, where I could roll down my windows, was Tool's Undertow. Front to back. Didn't have to skip anything.

OK, you've got it! Although my favorite Tool album is Anema and the song of choice is Stinkfist! I have all their albums on my ancient but still functional SanDisk mp3 player which I take with on flights.

Rabbit ears or cable?
Just re-tuned the 67 Camaro this past weekend, as I removed the intake manifold to seal up a rear leak. A paper clip to set the points gap.

Red Barchetta by Rush.

It comes on the stereo and I'm uncontrollably forced to do things that the automotive gods approve of but the nanny state doesn't.
I may alienate some of you with this. Its taken me a LOOOONG time. But I think I'm finally coming around to Rush. Geddy Lee's shrill just put me off for so long. It is fantastic music, I just really try to tune Geddy Lee out and focus on Neil Peart's drumming and all the melodies. ?

Anema (haha, I think you need a Cyrillic keyboard to type it correctly) is a fantastic album. I actually just saw them live a couple of years ago. It was the third time I've seen them.

Lot's of great choices here (and plenty of new songs to add to my playlist). Thanks for sharing, everyone!

I like the responses I've gone through so far. It can be obvious of the generation gaps as to music I see here.

My brother was a DJ, then the Music Director for a rock station in Orlando during the early 70's; WDIZ.

His favorite quote to those who would state they don't understand the words to rock...
"If you want words, read poetry. If you want music, listen to Rock and Roll"

Well I'm going to stray of course from most of these great tunes.

Going a little country if I may.

Dwight Yoakum, I'm a thousand miles from nowhere and I ain't that lonely yet.
