Had a strange one yesterday. I was on a call while in my BS (via iPhone). All going smoothly using hands free calling. The call ended the other party hung up (before i was able to) but on the BS's info screen, the the call was still active.

I was unable to disconnect the call using the phone or the End Call button (top left of screen). The only way i was able to finally disconnect the call was hit the Home button (the little house) and then "end call" button on the right side of the home screen. One issue solved.

My iPhone, however, showed the little orange dot that indicates that the microphone was still active. I ended up having to force a shutdown on the phone and once i rebooted, all seemed ok. I made another call, a bit later in the day and everything operated as expected. i'm guessing just a gremlin lurking in the software of either the BS or my iPhone that decided to mess with me.

Definitely a gremlin. I have times when Siri gets stuck on when using CarPlay and I have to disconnect everything to cancel out of it. And other times when I’ll make a call and it will show on the screen as active yet the radio is still playing overtop the CarPlay call which requires me to unplug to correct the issue. Doesn’t ever happen in my work car which is an Equinox so I think it’s a Sync 3/Carplay issue.

There are various reasons for these glitches using Sync with iPhone but one of the most common causes is that the iPhone to Sync interface is not robust .. a high quality Apple MFi Certified USB-C cable solves nearly all of the glitches.
For iPhone 15 models (and at least the future), it is the USB-C to USB-C Apple MFi Certified cable

For iPhones earlier than iPhone 15, it is the USB-C to Lightning Apple MFi Certified cable

This will not solve all the glitches but reduces an already low probability dramatically.

Mine works pretty reliable but it wont sync on occasion. I just unplug the USB A quickly and re-plug it in. Fixes it everytime. I'd like to go to a USB-C to USB-C on the wireless adapter but haven't found a cable that is short and that fits in the CarLinKit 3.0.

I should add that my phone was not attached via USB cable... it was a Bluetooth connection. I've not run into any issues when connected by USB.... but then again, i don't make a ton of calls either.

Mine is all wireless too. I just have a wireless adapter that plugs into the USB port in the under dash area. That's what I have to unplug on occasion to get CarPlay to sync.

I bought these a few days ago, they work well!

If your iPhone is on the latest iOS 17.3 (or later if applicable) and the latest Sync (23188 or later), the recommended solution for the issue you are seeing is to turn off Bluetooth on your iPhone, unpair your iPhone from Sync then re-enable Bluetooth on your iPhone and re-pair with Sync.

Sometimes people say they also do a Sync Reset and a Master Reset (under Settings on the 8” Display) but with an iPhone these Resets possibly are unnecessary.

No idea but if you have Amazon prime it’s free to return
@Escape2Bronco .. just an FYI … the cable I posted and purchased is a 60Watt 1’ cable I needed for another project and the USB-C port in the Bronco Sport I measured at about 12W. The 60W cable is stiffer because the wires are thicker and the cable is well protected against bending. You will find lots of short USB-C cables on Amazon of less wattage specs.

Thanks, I’ve tried several but the plastic surrounding the USB C port on the Carlinkit 3.0 seems abnormally small. I’m ok with the A to C that came with it. I’ve just heard that the C to C allegedly works faster/better.

I have an Iphone 14 max pro that for whatever reason fails to connect altogether. The dealer was able to connect it when I picked up my Bronco, but hasnt been able to link since. Any suggestions would be appreciated!!!

Micheal, does it fail to connect via Bluetooth or fails to Sync to CarPlay?
