I had an unavoidable collision with deer on 08 Dec 2023 in my 2023 Big Bend with 7k miles. We are living in an age where a collision with a deer can cost 20k in repairs !! I'm still waiting for preliminary work at paint and body shop - measuring frame to make sure it isn't bent before any work begins per insurance company. Doesn't look like a total loss unless frame is bent badly.

That's $20K to repair?
Insurance companies usually total when the damage is 75% of the vehicle's worth.

This is the price we pay for safety; vehicles are designed to sacrifice themselves to protect people. The entire structure collapses to reduce impact forces imparted to the vehicle's occupants. It's great for the people, but also generates astronomical repair bills.

My first thought was that you can get a 2023 BB for $29,000 brand new in this market. With 7k miles, I would assume it would get appraised at around $25k. I can't believe they aren't gonna total it.

Actually, what the OP said was: a collision with a deer CAN cost 20k in repairs. He didn't say this collision is going to cost 20k.

One headlight assembly is $1600.
If you go the route of repairing the vehicle be sure the quote includes the headlamp assembly that matches the non-repaired side or if necessary (and allowed by your insurance) will replace both sides in order to match.

It is a unibody so it could be tricky and not safe depending on what's bent.
Amazing how much damage that is from just the deer.?
That's a great looking BS (well before it was wrecked I mean).

Plus the body shop labor rates have skyrocketed around here. I can’t speak for the STL area. It’s been hard to get parts and lead times are in the 1-2 months just to get it worked on.

The repair estimate is a little over 19k right now - so almost 20. One headlight assembly is $1600.
That's a lot of money did any air bags go off?If so that's why the cost is so much to fix it!!A lady i work with was in an accident with her 2019 Cadillac XT4 didn't have much body damage at all but the air bags went off and the cost to replace them was going to be $16,000 they totaled it!!

That's what the nudge bar is for. I ordered it a week after the Bronco was delivered.
I live in a heavily deer-populated area.

Depending on how it's mounted, a collision with a deer on a vehicle with a nudge bar can actually result in more damage. Without an engineering study there is no way to know how impact forces will be imparted to the unibody.
