Got my slightly late 15k oil change and tire rotation. The service department folks were complimenting my BL and a few followed me out to see how pretty the roast leather seats are.

I also got to test drive a full size 2 door BL with Squatch package while I waited. Super fun to drive! It was neat to get behind the wheel of one.

It is very easy to set in and out! It’s perfect from that aspect.
I've noticed that! When I get out, it's like I'm just stepping out. A big difference from my old Accord.

Interesting enough, my dad suggested I get an SUV so when I have to take him to doctor appointments, he can get out easier. I haven't had to take him yet but I accidentally got the SUV.

I did a little speaker upgrade to my base sound system. I went with Hertz X170 speakers ordered from Crutchfield. The brackets and pigtails were all free as well as the instructions for speaker access. I'm not gonna win any audio competitions but it's far better than the dismal stock speakers.

That is one interesting looking door interior! I haven't seen the inside of one made this century.

Just installed the Autostop Eliminator. Toughest part was unplugging the port. After that, about 2 minutes if you have small hands.?‍♀ I will put the ties on later. If it stops raining, I’ll get under the hood and put in the Redline stuff. Well, stops raining and warms up a bit. Working in 47° and wet is no fun.

Picked up recovery boards and a folding E-tool. Trail guide at Off Roadeo told us self recovery tools are a better first choice than something like snatch ropes, which usually need 2 vehicles.

Hi. There's so many models of Bunker recovery boards. Did you end up buying a recommended model? Thx.

Just picked an option that had 2 day delivery and the carrying case. Not really planning on putting these on the roof.

Shovel is Gerber, someone somewhere mentioned that as a good choice. The shovel is really small, fits under front passenger seat no problem. Downside is more work required to dig under tires. Shovel will do double duty when car camping.

I'm gonna feel really stupid for spending $25 on a "foam weenie" (as it was referred to on Shark Tank), but after my personal phone kept falling down the crack between the drivers seat and the center console, I bought drop stop to plug the gap.

(I actually found this while searching for obnoxious/"stupid" car products like a tray for fast food for a friend who bought a new Kia... and I felt really stupid for ordering it.)

I'm actually shocked to say that between keys phones etc not falling, this is a huge quality of life purchase. There are imitators but drop stop has a patent on fitting around the seatbelt clip. This is important because it means when the seat moves, the dropstop moves and doesn't need you to manually adjust it back into proper orientation:
  1. If you're the only driver of your vehicle the seat may not really move, but if you share the vehicle with others they will move the seat to their preferences...
  2. If you're the only driver and you don't explicitly move the seat yourself, then by default the easy enter/exit moves the seat in on ignition start and back on ignition off.
While they must be making an obscene profit margin on a piece of foam, I'm 100% satisfied for the problem it resolves.

As the non-brown portions of the badlands interior are black anyways, they're barely noticeable and not a visual detriment in any way.

Separately, and I'm not sure if I posted this earlier, Spigen made an Apple certified Magsafe car mount that can charge at 15W (iPhone models will only accept 7.5W from uncertified Qi chargers... the BS' own wireless charging pad is 5W max). While expensive, I am far more satisfied with the convenience of this solution. It has a stronger magnet than Spigen's previous car mount (which required you to supply Apple's official magsafe puck, sold separately). If you are truly offroading the vehicle then I would recommend a more rigid mount, but if you're using the BS for everyday driving, this newer mount stands up to everything but really extreme bumps/really deep potholes. I have it mounted left of the Sync 3 screen. Use in Carplay is handy, I generally put Waze on both and the main screen shows the map while the iPhone screen shows the list of directions or upcoming hazards (police reported, roadkill, wildlife, pothole, object on road, etc.)

Rival aluminum under-engine skid plate installed. I kept the Ford factory original, and have to say it is pretty flimsy. I think it's some type of composite material... not plastic, not cardboard. I can't see it lasting for long as it already had salt stains from limited winter driving.

The one downside to the RIval is it needs to be removed to gain access to the oil filter during an oil change. Otherwise It's a solid upgrade.

Pic is from the Rival website for illustration purposes.
