Fuel line inside hood weatherstrip

I attempted this tonight…I might just be tired, it’s cold, it’s dark - but I had a hell of a time, I can onlu get about a foot of hose into the weatherstrip, and it just stops….usinng dish soap to lune it up….any tips on lubricating the entire inside of the weatherstrip first? Hands get too slippery to push the hose….any tips?

On my 2024 Badlands, I tried a few sockets until I found one that would just start into the tubing. It measured 11mm (0.43 in) on the outside diameter. I was planning to buy some 3/8 inch (9.5mm) foam backer rod for this project.

Get a piece of Romex wiring, 12 or 14 gauge the needed length. Strip the outer sheath and use any of the 3 wires.

Push it thru the weatherstrip, tape on the hose and pull it thru.

2021 Badlands, I removed the (ford) deflector from the hood and it stopped all vibrations.

Try using 1/4” fuel line instead. It goes in easier

I ran 3/8 OD surgical tubing in side my door seals on 2016 F250 to stop the whistling. Its softer than fuel line, might be an option

I did exactly that, and it worked well - improved Things a bit, I am tempted to do the same to the front and side weatherstrip under the hood to see if that helps.

Did your 2023 BL actually come with the side weatherstripping? Curious, because I had to buy mine and add it.

no, my 2023 did not have the side pieces, I ordered them and installed myself.

Electricians have a special lube they use for pulling wires. It stays slick longer than dish soap. The also have a "fish" which is stiff wire with a hook on the end. You could push it into the tubing and tape it tight to pull it through. Know any electricians?

Home Depot sells individual wires on rolls, you can cut to the length you need.
