I'm really on the fence regarding a bigger tire on my BS in Heritage trim. Although, TBH I'm not unhappy with the looks, performance or ride quality of the Continental CrossContact ATR's (17") as yet and the mpg numbers i've been getting are quite good.

We'll see once the snow comes how they perform. If i DO go to the bigger tire, it would probably be when i replace the Conti's.... which only have about 1600 miles on them so far.

What about the OBX? What's the biggest 18" tire you can run with stock suspension?
245/60/18 which is the same overall diameter as the 245/65/17 or 245/70/16. You can play around with these things on www.tiresize.com to see how much bigger/smaller a particular size is and how it will affect the speedometer readings.

None no problems whatsoever this is a very popular upgrade with no downsides
That’s awesome to hear. I’m looking for some more ground clearance and have been debating a 1-2” lift or just bigger tires.

Hopefully you have a Badlands, which sits a bit higher anyway and has the more powerful engine. Not sure I would want bigger circumference if I had the 3-cylinder (lose some acceleration).

245 70 17? No rub? Most of people in the forum affirm the largest are 245 65 17 or 235 70 17. Do you do some off road? What during flex? Thanks for any answer you can give!
I got the 1.5” lift (recommended)
With the 245 65 17 no need to lift and no rub.
Regards

I’ve got a first edition so yes. Sits a bit higher and has the 2.0

I have a Badlands with stock suspension running 245 65 17 tires, when the tires were new they would barely brush/kiss the the fabric wheel well liners when the suspension was fully articulated and wheels being turned.
The rub point is at the rear of the front wheel wells, a lift wont help with that clearance.
If/When the tires pack up with mud effectivly increasing the tires diameter, depending on how the suspension is articulated, that same area will scrape the mud off the tires, in dry conditions its fine.
Otherwise 99% of the time running 245 65 17 size tires is no issue.
I wouldnt run 70 series tires unless I were to run a 16 inch rim.

I saw someone fit a 255/65/17 on an OEM wheel with no issues in a BL. That is 30.1" in diameter.

If fitting some large tires to drive the street, shopping malls, dirt parking lots or manicured dirt roads you would probably get away with running 30+ inch diameter tires, because you are not working the suspension.
Besides what I've witnessed myself, (Meanderthal) has a number of posts on this site with photos that show the BS problem area
The popular lift companies like HRG, Ford Ranger Lifts or even Rough Country do not suggest anything larger than 245/65/17, they dont want you coming back complaing that your new 30+inch tires rub.
