So, anyone who's watched my video's knows we love this thing. It is ten times more capable than it gets credit for.
But, the only thing that I don't like is an unfixable problem, breakover angle. We have 10" clearance under the whole vehicle (same minimum as an 02 explorer on 33's) but since the belly isn't tucked up like a truck which has say 18-20" to the t/case, we belly out on the skid plates a lot..well I shouldn't say "a LOT" but its had four wheels flailing a few times! lol!
Took a bunch of bronco's out and was thinking of upgrading when we turn this in (that was the point of buying this) but after driving them it came down to, two cupholders not like 10 or whatever in the sport, plus the window switches were on the console instead of on the doors. I was, that's because the doors come off! Got a look and "I'm NOT getting eaten alive by mosquitos"!!
Wife saw a new ranger drive by "is that a maverick"? Nope, ranger, she says huh, pretty good breakover angle on that huh?
So we go to the dealership to take a ranger for a run. Wow, low gearing, great, lots of clearance in the wheel wells to put 35's on..yeah.....and its got 4 cupholders...and a spot for my purse...
You want to trade the sport for a ranger?
All this to say, the off-roading we do with the bronco sport is the limit we want to take a "new" vehicle or the "daily driver" anyway. So if we had a f-350 4x4 with 44's, we still wouldn't crash through the wooded trails for fear of damage.
So what we figured was, we'd lose the "front wheel drive little car feel", great gas mileage, cup holders, smoother ride, nicer long distance driving vehicle. We would gain clearance and the ability to overbuild it. Still thinking of the ranger of course but the bronco sports badlands fits our lives pretty well!
I think "baby" might be a keeper!
