I got my Borla S-series cat-backs (black tips) installed today. Love the low growl sound. I was expecting it to be louder, but this is perfect and there is zero drone in the cab. My tires already make noise, so I can barely here the exhaust unless I stomp on it. I think I make the right choice!

Does it make a louder sound when in Sport mode?

I haven't checked yet, but how does it mechanically make it sound different in Sport mode? Was there a valve in the resonator or muffler?

I believe SPORT mode pipes artificial engine sounds through the audio system.
So really it’s “Sound mode” . LOL
I do notice a difference in shifting. Recently went camping fully loaded, (BTW looking into overload springs when I get my cargo trailer) and I used that mode as Tow/Haul and it did well on the highway and MPG was better than expected (used 91 per FORD recommendations ).

Well, the speaker system is off, so it definitely doesn't come through the speakers.

With the Borla system, I can for sure tell that I'm getting more HP and better gas mileage.

My understanding is that the “piped in engine sound” doesn’t require the audio system physically turned on. Similarly, your seat belt chime and turn signal sounds don’t care whether you’ve turned on the audio…those sounds use the existing speakers regardless.

This thread is about exhaust. You don’t hear exhaust sound through the speakers. And once an exhaust is installed, you ain’t hearing any “piped in engine sounds” either.

You absolutely hear the fake exhaust sounds through the speakers. That's how its designed.

Wow. Y’all are really hung up on this. Not even the topic at hand.
I know it's not the topic, but you are hung up on saying it doesn't happen.
