I continually have the charging issue . I have a I phone 14 Pro Max with a silicone nonslip case.

Driving a round it still moves and I get the popup on the screen saying wireless charging inactive.

I've even tried staying parked with the phone in place and charging and I still get the popup after a short period showing it's not charging.

Frustrating, I don't use it anymore since I'm getting tired of continually adjusting the phone to charge and the annoying popup.
That’s my experience as well and likely TSB 22-2485 (Wireless Accessory Charger Inoperative/Poor Performance With Magsafe Charging iPhones) will correct or substantially improve some of those issues except for the aspect of the iPhone sliding around. I’ve already created a solution to fix the moving around (see earlier message from Mark S for his proposed solution) which didn’t help.

Do you plan to have a dealership install the TSB 22-2485 software update?

This is covered under warranty, check with your dealership to see if this applies to you:

Addresses wireless charger inoperative or poor performance when using Apple iPhone models that use MagSafe wireless charging including iPhone 12, 13, 14 etc. This may be due to limited compatibility with the Wireless Accessory Charging Module (WACM).

NOTE: The WACM software is designed to improve the compatibility between Apple MagSafe charging iPhones, including iPhone 12, 13 and 14, etc. models, and the Ford Qi wireless charging module.

2021 to 2022 BS's. 2023 BS's not affected for this TSB

I do at some point. I don't think it can make it worse, I hope.
Time depends on when the new Sync 3 update comes out. I can't wait for that one and all the probable issues it creates.

Our phones are identical and we both have MagSafe compatible cases that we use regularly with other MagSafe chargers. My phone will charge on the pad, so will my AirPods. Her phone will not.

It really doesn't matter to us because we use the phones plugged in for CarPlay and there's no wireless ability unless we bought a dongle. But regardless, Ford should be making this one right.

Identical iPhones including the exact same amount of memory? And are the MagSafe cases identical? I suspect there is some difference and if you were close by to me it would be relatively easy to check why one charges and the other does not. I like mysteries but there’s always a reason.

Good question, I should have provided more details. Different cases but we use a common MagSafe desk top charger frequently and don't have any issues.

TSBs are published on a certain date and are notoriously inaccurate on affected vehicles. Yes it’s possible Ford installed the WACM software update at the factory for 2023s but it’s already proven some 2023s came without the latest Sync software which was released well prior to the 2023s build date. Anyone with an iPhone with MagSafe and experiencing issues using the BS wireless charge pad would be wise to check with their dealership to verify the WACM software is up to date.
It might be difficult to get Ford to foot the bill if the TSB does not reflect the 2023 model year as affected.

Here's what I am sure will be a stupid question, but we have a 2022 Badlands, and I have no idea if I have a wireless charger or not. Can someone let me know how to determine that? Apologies in advance!

If your phone is capable of wireless charging you can place it on the rubber mat in the cubby to the left of the USB port under the HVAC controls. If it starts charging you have it. If it doesn't, you don't.

You may also look at your window sticker. The wireless charging option is part of the Premium Package for the Badlands trim.

Thanks, Mark. I am pretty sure we don't have it then, as I know we didn't get the Premium Package. Buying off the lot at a dealer with no added markup, we had to make some compromises - only two BS to choose from and my wife's 18 year old Escape was DOA.

Him and a zillion other Ford vehicle owners with the same sort of wireless charge pads have the same sliding around issue including me. The TSB i posted about does not of course do anything for the sliding around.

Perhaps the iPhone is more heavy than the AirPods charging case so its weight plays a role or maybe you just don’t notice if the AirPods are actually charging the entire time.

My iPhone says Juicing when connected to a charger and says Unpowered when disconnected so is very easy to tell when the iPhone isn’t aligned to the BS charging pad.
ā€œJuicing/Unpoweredā€ I’m assuming it’s jailbroken?

Biggest problem i believe is the raised camera housing on the iPhones so it’s not sitting flush per se to the charging mat like the ones in the home.
Mine charges fine as long as I don’t use it for anything, if I do it gets so hot it shuts down.
My questions is with this service fix is it also for the ā€˜23 models because I only see it’s for up to the ā€˜22 models.

I had this TSB applied a couple days ago. I haven’t used the charging pad in quite awhile because it’s so bad (installed a MagSafe mount w/ wireless charging that works great). It just generated a lot of heat and constant messages on the screen about charging stopping / starting.

Anyway, after the dealer applied the update, my iPhone was at 45% and 51% 30 minutes later when I arrived home. The phone was quite warm but not hot. I was also on a MS Teams call for the entire drive.

I’ve had previous experience of no increase in percentage or a single digit. The phone would also get very hot. All in all, I’d say it’s improved from horrible to mediocre. At least it’s functional now.

Or look at the rubber mat and if you see the battery/lighting bolt on the mat, you have wireless charging lol

Answer: good guess but it’s two Shortcuts, easy to implement and say whatever you want (useful when I was testing the BSs charge pad).

Biggest problem i believe is the raised camera housing on the iPhones …

Comment: I can take mine out of its case, position directly on top the wireless charge pad with supports I added so the iPhone can’t slide around - doesn’t matter, it’s very slowww charge and iPhone gets toasty warm.
