Ford Bronco Sport A real page turner: Owner's Manual 1684333922217

seems that the web version (not the PDF) has corrected the typo…maybe time to dump (pun intended) the PDF and the hard copy owners manual.

https://www.fordservicecontent.com/Ford_Content/vdirsnet/OwnerManual/Home/Index?Variantid=8547&languageCode=EN&countryCode=USA&VIN=&userMarket=usa&div=f&buildtype=web
My 2021 printed manual is different from both, saying "Shift to neutral" though I did have a copy of the shit PDF at one point. A rare case of Ford giving a F instead of decontenting stuff like when they took it out of the PDF version.

I just came from a Mustang 2.3 forum that I was on for 6, maybe 7 years now. I'm still on there; I'm not as active as I was when I first got the Mustang. But still see the occasional noob come through and ask for the thousandth time: what size oil filter, or how often they should change the oil, or where can they locate the BCM fuse box...thousands and thousands of times, over and over.

I can't ever recall such an echo chamber to "read the manual". A true suggestion here and there, to those WE WERE SURE would probably never do so, maybe. But not this. If a noob asked a "stupid" question, I just wouldn't answer it.

Mostly we just gathered on there to talk and learn about the car as much as we can. If we can help someone else out there...well, then....pay it forward is a great way to live life. I was hoping to find that here.

Like I said in the "other thread", paper manuals, much like everything else paper, are apparently going away. So at some point, your only option for car info, will be a phone app or website. The days of sitting on the toilet and thumbing through the "page turner", as even I do from time to time, are coming to an end. Enjoy them while they last.

There is occasionally a "RTFM" comment here but generally people seem to be interested in being helpful. A lot of the time, that comment comes along with a picture or link to the manual page.

you might float that idea by Ford
seems easy enough to apply filters
or cut to the chase - VIN
presto
your refined manual
would seem to upscale the product with little effort
Are you paying attention Ford?
many, many years ago
Kong family seated around kitchen table
dessert
jello
maybe a little whipped cream on top
Mrs Kong asks why they don't put vitamin C in Jello?
Mrs Kong being of the direct approach type takes matters into own hands
if you would
please hand me that phone
calls customer service line
why no vitamin C?????
few years later.........
"Now With Vitamin C"
we'll always wonder about that one
User manuals are still worthy; then you join a forum to get the additional info they (user manuals) leave out by real world use.

These types of thread starters from the noob's was usually to get the required post count up so they could post in the classifieds section. Clever "noob's". Sites I moderated on had a 25 post requirement before they could sell on a given forum.
I would delete any posts from a noob that had a response of "yes", "no", or "I agree", as I could easily see they were only trying to increase their post count.

As long as those who replied politely to a question that was asked over and over, I'd let it be.

We can always just ignore the thread, and move to one that interests us.

Yep. Good ol' fashioned, basic, classic forum etiquette.

BTW, "Go Gators!":handsinair:

Yes, Go gators! off topic for a second...UF Baseball is at Kentucky this weekend. Looks like we host a regional too. #1 in the SEC east.

I read mine cover to cover when I got the car. The most interesting part I found was fail-safe cooling - where the engine can run for extended distances with no coolant. The engine will switch to alternating cylinder operation and the disabled cylinder will pump in air to cool the engine.
See page 290 in the manual for details - pretty neat I think, but I don't think I would really want to test this...

I’m an RTFM guy (& left a TL;DR worthy post in the other thread). The electronic versions are quite helpful to be able to zoom in & read it easier for those of us with aging eyes now. They’re easy to search. But they’re still ultimately a scanned PDF version of the paper book.

What I’d hope they do one day is cut the manual down to size by getting rid of the ‘if so equipped’ sections & make it specific to my actual vehicle. Surely that can happen when they don’t have to physically print it any longer. More relevancy with better explanation of how to actually use the software features (I’m still pretty certain most know how to do up seatbelts, but the manual will always have to cover that) would go along ways I think towards getting people to read it.
RTFM: "Read The Flight Manual" is almost always great advice.
