I think you're right, If the oil was a bit dirtier, I probably wouldn't have seen the green tint. That being said I'm glad I changed the oil as there were some sparkles at the bottom of the drain pan. I'm not sure if the sparkles are metal or material from production but either way, I'm glad to have them out of there.
Agreed

I've reached out to a couple of Ford mechanics, and both agree that it's more than likely that the dye was put in the oil at the factory to check for leaks. I think it was so visible because the oil change was done early, and the oil was still translucent showing the dye. That being said I did order a kit from Blackstone Labs to have an analysis ran.

Better safe than Sorry but indicators seem more positive

Did my oil at 4800 miles.1st oil change. Sent it to blackstone. Mine wasn’t green either but also had more miles. Was dark and smelled of fuel and was watery in consistency.

This has got to be the strangest thing yet.
Osco sits back, gets the pop corn going, grabs a beer.
I think it is a dye. The reason is vehicles built on Monday or Friday need extra attention to them to ensure quality was maintained.

They work double shifts 6 days a week. I think when the motor oil is changed early, while it's still translucent, it's easier to see the dye, especially in bright light.

We're glad you were able to get some closure from Blackstone Labs. I would do another analysis in 10-15k miles or so to check on it

Ford has been using the green tinted oil for a number of years for the initial factory oil fill. Shouldn't be an issue.

Just adding that my oil is green as well. 2022 BS BB 1.5
It is odd that only some of the engines have the green oil. In general it seems it would be used to track down leaks. I wonder if they are using it at the factory to find a leak but it would seem weird to leave it in after finding/fixing a leak.

Agreed, I'm not sure if Ford randomly puts green oil in a certain percentage of vehicles to look for leaks. I'm sure it's more cost effective just to leave the green oil in the vehicle. My report from Blackstone came back good and I haven't had any problems to date.
