This is very confusing to me. I just picked up my '23 OBX on January 11. The Ford owners site says I have version 22200 and an update is available. When I go to my vehicle it tells me the software is up to date (version 22200). Which is correct and why don't they reflect the same information?

They just don’t always reflect the same SYNC 3 version info. And you cannot expect the factory will always install the latest firmware or software on any module in the bronco sport. The factory installs what it has at the time of production which is not necessarily the latest.

Currently SYNC 3.4 22251 is the latest so your 22200 is out of date. Just get the correct size and type USB Drive and download from the Ford download site. The install instructions on Ford’s download site are very good.

Hi "Dude"
Thank you - I was confused after Thomasm23 wrote:
"Actually not directly from Ford. A version of 22251 has been available through CyanLabs for download"
I will try the Ford link later.
I agree and to be honest I have not taken the time to fully digest the CyanLabs website. There are very good tutorials and documentation info on the CyanLabs site but the actual postings there by various users can be cryptic (and can be wrong until someone corrects the info) so you have to take the time to read and understand the info on CyanLabs to make best use of CyanLabs.

And I do not generally need the bleeding edge updates and info on CyanLabs so I can wait until Ford tests and publishes the update on Fords download site which has been good enough for me.

The SYNC 3 version is not always displayed on Ford’s download site
My ‘22 Badlands came from the factory with version 21194.
In October 2022 I installed version 22200 via USB Device but after the 22200 install completed, i was not able to upload the created file from the USB Device to the Ford site due to a known issue with Fords website. So my download page showed “blank” at the spot in your pic where you show 3.4 22200. I contacted the Ford software support team in October 2022 but they could only explain it is a known issue.
Today 1/23/2023 I installed version 22251 via USB Device but after the 22251 install completed, i was not able to upload the created file from the USB Device to the Ford site due to that known issue with Fords website as I mentioned earlier.
And my download page shows “blank” at the spot in your pic where you show 3.4 22200. But I do have 22251 installed as confirmed by the setting on the 8” Display.
Thanks for the info. I have the same situation. I have checked and my system now has 22251.

I am unable to update my '22 Badlands with the new 22251 build. I get the message "This USB device is not compatible. Please Remove." Removing/replacing the USB stick did not help.

I formatted my USB stick to exFat, copied the "Extracted" files to the stick. I already tried two different Sticks, and two different Extraction apps. I'm at a loss.

Any ideas would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance.....
Do not extract the files. You must follow the instructions. What OS are you using on your computer?

Just did this update this morning. Download from the Ford website. Extract files onto a completely empty USB drive. If you downloaded the compressed file on the drive, delete it after extracting the file. There should only be 3 files on the thumb drive. FAT32 format, can also use exFAT.

syncmyride folder
Autoinstall.lst
Dontindx.msa

Just to clarify you are showing 2 files and one folder containing more files (6 more files I recall) and after the install completes, … in the folder will be one added file with your vehicles VIN number in the filename.

That added file after installation completion is the file Ford wants you to upload on the Ford website mentioned in earlier posts. Which often that upload will fail as mentioned earlier.

Yes that is correct. Also the update will only start if plugged into the center stack USB, not the armrest USB. My BS didn't recognize it in the armrest USB.

Now for the file upload, I have never uploaded anything to Ford. I sill get update alerts.

Ok just tried to upload the XML file. It will briefly show a green check box but then show upload failed. Not sure, we are talking about Ford here. Not going to worry about it. All I know is my BS has been updated to the current version.

I’ve tried uploading the VIN named file created after the SYNC update completes and both times (for the 22200 update and a few days ago for the 22251 update) the upload fails with an error stating try again. Ford is aware of the upload issue, there is no known solution yet, and others report the same error.

I have a ‘22 Badlands but I have heard from some 2021 owners that they uploaded the file with no problems.

And one person said that after his SYNC update completed (and after he did the key cycle procedure) he simply put the USB device back in and did the “same install a 2nd time”. At that point he claimed both his vehicle stated his SYNC was up to date and later Ford’s website no longer stated his SYNC was out of date. I can neither confirm nor deny that all worked as he stated.

Before this update, my ford account showed nothing about a sync update. I never uploaded the XML file even after the 22200 update. Maybe the system auto-detects that it has been updated through the Ford pass app behind the scenes?

What do you mean about "through the Fordpass app??" I don't see anything on either my phone version or on the display screen in FordPass about update versions??
