There are features that come standard on the Outer Banks that you must pay additional for to get on the Badlands. There are also features available for the Outer Banks that are not available--even as factory options--on the Badlands:
  • Rain sensing wipers.
  • Wiper deicer.
  • Ambient lighting.
  • Mini spare tire.
  • 18" wheels.
  • All-season tires (not all-terrain).
There are probably more I can't think of right now.
I didn't realize that the OB has rain sensing wipers. I did think it was odd that the Badlands didn't come with that. Those first three - Rain sensing wipers, de-icer, and Ambient lighting would be nice. I actually didn't realize that there were options on the OB that you didn't get with the Badlands if you added the Premium package and 360+ technology, but I was wrong. Guess there is no way to configure a BS with absolutely every possible option, as the Badlands has some options that you can't get on the OB, and the OB has some you can't get on the Badlands.

(The last 3 bullets don't interest me at all, but I can see how some would want the mini spare, 18" wheels, and all-season tires. I'd prefer the full-size spare, 17" tires, and all-terrain. Clearly, there is a BS for all consumers).

RSH,, before you take your BS in to the dealer to check start/stop, put a trickle charger on it overnight. With short trips in cold weather, with lights on more in the winter, it tends to run the battery down a bit, on all of my vehicles. Once I got the battery fully charged, the stop/start worked again.

I love my Badlands for the extra clearance and the 2.0 engine for occassional towing. I've gotten up to 32 mpg on some trips and average 27 mpgin town. I'm very happy with that.

'21 Big Bend edition. 18,800 miles. Mine has been part of every recall. Supply issues in getting the parts for the latest recall and parts for the brake service bulletin are an aggravation but not something that I worry about yet. I've made two cross-country round trips from Florida to Wyoming, one last summer with no issues except being a rock magnet. Just got back for the second trip where we encountered lots of snow and temperatures in the single digits. Only problem was self induced...I forgot to change out the windshield washer fluid for extreme cold weather version and my washers would not work the entire month we were out west due to freezing . No issues as far as comfort, reliability, or handling in the cold weather. Also does a decent job of off roading if you pick your path due to low clearance.

I want to make it permanent. Also the start stop is quite annoying. Permanent also. Thanks
I'm not a fan of the auto start/stop, either. I've had other vehicles where one could code it so that you disabled this function as the default setting. I don't think that is an option with Ford. No way around hitting the "disable" button manually in the Bronco Sport...or always toggling into Sport mode.

The thing the badlands has that the outerbanks doesn't that I want is the inside back seat storage.. otherwise i chose the outer banks over the badlands because I don't need it to go off roading. Also a reason why I chose a bronco over a jeep..... the creature comforts over the ruggedness.

We have a 21 OB with over 37,000 miles. We love it…and no issues to date.

Well, I have 7,000 mi on by BB BS. I am liking it more and more each day. Did my own oil change on at 5000, easy as pie. As winter nears it seems like a really good ride. It is a quite ride, more than I thought, my miles are around 30-31 mpg. on the 1.5ltr. Two minor inconveniences were dealing with a vibrating hose that runs under the driver's foot panel - zipties got rid of that problem. Also, the breaks squeal like many other vehicles when the rotors have a little rust on them, back up only. This is harmonics and nothing to be caused by mechanical issue - I may add some grease to the calipers or the backs of the pads as I did on my Jeep Patriot when it was new. And my Pacifica when we got that too. Only real concern is how hard it is to buy cool stuff with the Ford points. Have not used them yet as my dealers don't accept them.

You've had the car for two years and put 37,000 on it, thats kind wild.

Constant issues, rattles, squeaks, questionable build quality, recalls. Never ending wait on parts. Ford can only address one issue at a time and always have to go back and never really fixes anything. Then has damage done to it after they’re done “fixing things”. If having a cool vehicle is what you want, go for it.
If you want something reliable that won’t leave you stranded or a company that can’t fix warranty things unless you foot the bill yourself then yeah buy a Ford. I’ve paid two Indy shops to fix warranty things that Ford couldn’t or wouldn’t. And one of those things made my vehicle unsafe and dangerous to drive.
If I had to do it again, I wouldn’t. Hard fucking nope.
