Not happy at all. I have owned mine for a little over a year now. It's been in the shop 12 times since. 10 times for the digital screen not working, then back window leaking, doors not unlocking, and now the check engine light has came in 3 different times. I am in the process of doing a buyback (lemon) with Ford. They replaced the cluster twice and the gateway module once and still didn't fix the digital screen. This last time the manual speedometer is in kilometers and not MPH because that's all they could get. It's been in the shop more than I have driven it and is currently there for the last week and they don't know when it will be fixed because Ford is trying to figure out what's wrong. And in a few days the newest recall of it catching fire will have a sensor installed to let you know it's about to happen. Save your time and money, unfortunately until the bugs are worked out. Also there's a work stop on 2023 sports because of the engine catching fire issue.
I would trade it in too much grief.

Last night my wife told me she is in love with the BS Outer Banks and wants to go car shopping this weekend. I'm good with that. I'm retiring next year and will no longer have a commutes to Dallas. I did some initial checking and found the following...
  • Consumer reports downgraded the BS and no longer recommends it. In their annual survey the 'trouble spots' were Body Integrity 1/5, Brakes 1/5, and Engine Major 2/5. The rest of the categories did really well and ranked 5/5.
  • The Ford recall makes me a bit nervous.
What's your experience in repairs? Are you satisfied or has it been a money pit?
Thanks in advance for your comments.
I just got mine less than a month ago. I upgraded from a 2013 Fusion Titanium.
What I don't like so far in comparison is no ambient lighting inside the car, I can't save my seat position so I have manually adjust it after my Husband drives, it's not as roomy in the backseat (My kid is 6ft tall), they are not designed to have a cargo privacy cover in the back so when you're out shopping your items are exposed....I had premium sound in my Fusion (Sony Speakers) and the B&O is nooooo comparison. That's alotta little stuff that probably only bother me because I feel it's a downgrade....and because I'm a girl and I'm picky....
NOW TO THE POSITIVE.....I have a badlands there was no way I was gonna get used to base model small engine. I test drove that one and I wouldn't recommend the smaller engine there is a huge difference in the way the truck handles. Also B&O Speakers are not close to nice but stock radio is Hhhhorriiible....the clarity is just not it .....I love my Sport...takes railroad tracks and speed bumps like a champ, pleasantly rugged, gas mileage isn't great but not horrible in the city...hwy mileage is great....I have a sunroof and it's a perfect size so you can get that great outdoor feeling without paying the extra $15k..... It's a great car....No recalls for 2022 model with 2.1 liter engine so far that I could find. I think you and Ya Lady will love it as a retirement car.....

I believe the colors that cost more use either a different kind of paint, or a different application method. I've not experienced any paint issues with Cyber Orange.
The Cyber Orange is a tri-color pearl paint. I think it is the only one available on Bronco Sport the rest being two stage auto paint. I have no idea is that makes a difference, but likewise, I have had no major paint issues. I do have a very, very small chip by the headlight but I think for all colors, it is the light assembly somehow physically causing that damage.

I have a 22 badlands. Other than some rattles and my left front door speaker vibrating I'd say it's a decent SUV. I Have all the bells and whistles so the electronics are a little overwhelming. I can do without the auto headlights. They seem to do whatever they feel like doing. Brights go on and off at random. It was pretty foggy the other night, the road was icy, the high beams kept going on and off. When they came on I was blinded and couldn't see. Any ways it's time for my first oil change and I will be bringing these issues up at the dealer.

I came back to this thread seeking the same answer. Conclusion? The wimp did not care about our opinions because his wife already said what was happening. You go girl!

I've had my 21 Outer Banks for a year now and its the best car I ever had. Fun to drive and incredible features. Issues - a bit of a rattle, just in front of the driver, in the dashboard or under hood...but fixed. I may be also a bit over sensitive/picky. The only issue I have is that the block heater cable can't be routed out through the front grill ... but .. who knows ... you might be living in the desert and don't care? All in all - very happy - so much room, not one of the hundreds of identical looking / slanted roof / drop-like blobs from almost all other brands. It has style and a unique look. Just do your first few oil changes much earlier than the built-in indicator.
Good Luck

Just know that you don't have to keep your headlights set to "auto".

Love that red!
It's the 21 red but looks a bit more orange here due to colour profiles / camera. The 22 red is slightly different. Also - I ordered the wind deflectors ... makes the windows look smaller/lower. Also got it with the trailer package, which I'm not really interested in but that comes with a full-size spare instead of a donut, which in turn lifts the cargo floor an inch or so and by that eliminates the little step that's usually there. Just for more even floor for sleeping/camping. Also mud flaps.
In my opinion the Outer Banks are the top line of the Broncos ... unless you are strictly into off-roading. Brown leather seats, higher level electronics and display, B&O stereo ... etc

I love your BS. Sounds very well configured for exactly what you want.

the only thing I'd say is that, technically, I believe the Badlands + Premium Package is the actual top of the BS line. It's everything the OB has in terms of luxury & electronics + the 2.0L engine. I see the off-roading capabilities as just a bonus that 99% of all Badlands owners will never use any more so than OB owners are likely to go off-roading.

There are features that come standard on the Outer Banks that you must pay additional for to get on the Badlands. There are also features available for the Outer Banks that are not available--even as factory options--on the Badlands:
  • Rain sensing wipers.
  • Wiper deicer.
  • Ambient lighting.
  • Mini spare tire.
  • 18" wheels.
  • All-season tires (not all-terrain).
There are probably more I can't think of right now.
