I live in Chicago, and I am a CCL holder. So the possibility of a gunshot wound requiring a Chest Seal is a real possibility. I carry Hyfin Vented Chest Seals in my IFAK and EDC. The NAR brand is quality stuff.

When I worked for the Forest Service, one of our trucks burned up because road flares were stored in a utility bed compartment directly above the exhaust. It got hot enough to light the flares. So use caution about where you store them.

I popped out the foam and put as much emergency stuff as I could fit. Axe, shovel, small pulaski (better than shovel when stuck), hand chain saw, jumper cables, recovery strap, rain jacket, gloves, first aid kit, wool cap.

Large washers will come in handy when you rip off the carpet "skid plate" on the driver's side, as I did on my first off-road excursion.

It’s a tight fit but a fella can’t be too prepared.

Very true
I carry both
however I've found other uses than intended for road flares
which is why I keep them along for the ride
in the past during deep subzero freezes
develop a need for a torch to heat materials
no torch handy
aaahhhhaaaa moment
road flare torch
in a pinch it works great
little messy spitting and sputtering
but if you are in need of a really hot flame this is it

I am trying to take advantage of the storage space in the spare tire area. The Fanttik T8 Jump Starter and X8 Tire Inflator fit perfectly in the foam tray. I got a 1/2" torque wrench and a non-mar lug socket; They fit the foam cutouts nicely too. And, I keep a tow strap, soft shackles, axles straps, and a trailer hitch shackle in there; I don't off-road (on-purpose ), but winter snow is bad here; Folks get stuck all the time... In the cracks and crevices, I stuffed things like tie-down straps. rags, gloves, 50' of paracord, and a spare antenna and connectors for the GMRS.

I'm curious what other folks use this space for, and what I might be missing in my kit.

Are you pretty happy with that X8 tire inflator? To me, having such a thing is essential and it's good to know this model fits next to the spare.

I've only used it on motorcycle tires so far... Took them from 0 to 30 much quicker than my old B&D compressor/starter combo. I did top off my tires... for that it works super! Preset to 33 and it stops by itself. In the winter here, the temp drops quickly and topping off the tires on a cold morning is a common need... now I can sit inside and not have to watch the pressure gauge

Oh yeah, that seems to happen to me just about every year when the temps cool down.
