Or this...which...government regulations and every company creatively meeting ridiculous standards.Agree ? this engine was originally designed with this engine cover nobody here knows what it actually does but if it didn’t need it why did they design it. I can think of lots of reasons of course.
Here is their website photo of engine.
Yes I can think of lots of things that don’t need to be on the vehicle wheel covers, lane control devices, controls on the steering wheel, electric locking doors, 4 Wd, air. Con….
But that is a different vehicle and I didn’t buy one of those so give me the vehicle I paid for and if I have to wait six months for a few add on pieces so be it I don’t mind putting them on later.![]()
"A law was passed, I believe in the EU, that fixed a percentage of material used to build a car that was recycled or could be recycled, an engine cover never needed previously or battery cover made of recycled plastic was added to reach to the desired percentage. And then the manufacturers looked to injection mould everything else. Just had to last till the warranty expired. Entirely new and largely pointless components were added to cars to meet an arbitrary target set with good intentions"
Seriously...the amount of energy wasted on a piece of plastic is mind blowing. BUY SOMETHING ELSE if the engine cover is a deal breaker. I understand why dealers hate servicing some of you.
