Anyone else missing the panel under the dash above the passenger side fuse box where the floor air ducts are.

Dealer ordered my part. Said it's on back order and will take a month or month an a half to get here.
My dealer said back ordered until May 12. I imagine that is all Ford dealers.

Thanks for the info on this subject.
I took delivery of my BS BB (ordered in Dec) 1 month ago. I checked earlier this week. Yep, missing panel under the dash. I stopped by the dealership today, showed them, and there was a discussion that the '21s had them but the '22s didn't. They checked a '22 that just came in and it didn't have the panel. The parts dept used the VIN number to verify info...panel was out of stock at production time so FORD shipped them without the part. They mentioned the panels should be in by mid-May. They will install it when they receive it.
The dealership is going to leave this as a customer specific issue. If the customer notices the missing part, they will get it. Otherwise the dealership is not going to pursue it.

That makes me uncomfortable with Ford as other threads on various topics have done. The general feeling that I had after contacting my dealer about this issue was that they'd prefer their customers not read forums and talk amongst themselves lest they know too much. Which is probably what most customers are doing.

Thanks rootdoc, that's helpful.

I'm not surprised the dealership is not going to reach out to the BS owners (but they should).

Ford OTOH definitely should have a "customer satisfaction campaign" (or similar). Notify all BS owners that the panel may be missing and ask owners whether they would prefer to have the panel installed at the dealership, or have it shipped to their home.

You wrote, "The parts dept used the VIN number to verify info...panel was out of stock at production time so FORD shipped them without the part." I didn't realize their info was that granular. I wonder what else they might be able to find?

For example, I thought that the rear seats in our BL are supposed to have folding headrests. They are shown on page 141 of the manual. Instead they are fixed. That would be no problem if the headrests did not hit the front seats when the rear seats are folded forward. They can be removed but there's no place to put them. At least the 25 year old RAV4 the BL is replacing has a second set of holes to temporarily store the headrests while the rear seats are folded.

The only mention of headrests in the online BS Build Tool is the addition of 4-way adjustable units on the front seats with the Premium Package. I haven't been able to determine if the folding rear headrests were simply out of stock during production and are supposed to be supplied later -- or if Ford took another step backwards from 2021 > 2022 and eliminated them, without providing any way to stow the ones that are supplied.

Exactly!

My wife took our BL by the dealer on Monday. The service manager looked and said, "Yup, no panel." He claimed he was going to call (about the panel and the folding rear headrests) but we've heard nothing.

"Give us your money and go away" seems to be the prevailing attitude.

Just delete parts/features -- including emergency equipment like recovery points -- and hope no one notices.

Perfect! Thanks. Will add that to my list of missing BL parts…
Would you mind sharing your list?

I've seen a few, but with some parts it's unclear whether they are "missing" (N/A during production, to be supplied ASAP) or if they are a casualty of the few steps backward Ford took from the 2021 to 2022 models.

IOW, missing due to supply problems, or a victim of intentional cost cutting.

NONE of them are 'to be supplied asap'. If they weren't on there from the factory Ford has no plans of sending them out or notifying owners or dealers about them. The only way to get them is to be the squeaky wheel.

Right, that's been established. Ford does not exactly seem anxious to do the right thing and have a "customer satisfaction campaign" and proactively provide the missing parts to all BS owners. It's clear that Ford and their dealers are hoping most people will not notice the missing parts.

Had my sentence been more complete, it would have read:

"...to be supplied asap to owners who request them."

Owners (at least some of them) who have asked about the dash panel have been told that they will be given one as soon as they become available -- but they did have to ask.

I had to fight for mine. Initially they said no, if it didn't come with it, it didn't come with it. And refused to even see if the warranty would do anything.

It took me squeaking to the sales guy my family has bought a dozen cars from (and knows I'll order a Bronco from as soon as ordering opens up again) to get the sales manager to agree to "pay" for the $60 part.
