1973 Jeep CJ5 I rag top drove the ALCAN in Jan. 1974 from Montana to Alaska 19 yrs. old SSgt USAF.
Definitely not my favorite, but similar experience, 1975 Vega from Rantoul, IL (Chanute AFB) to San Diego then to Alexandria, LA (England AFB) then back to San Diego where it was repossessed.

19 yo E-2 (57130) in ‘75. Great firefighter, lousy Airman.

Ah, the memories. I've been on the ALCAN 5 times, 4 as a kid at various ages with my parents, as we went from Alaska to Missouri to visit their family, and then once in my early 20s in 1987 when I moved from Alaska to California. Quite the adventure, but the car I drove was a 1978 Ford Fairmont, NOT one of my favorite cars :).

I’m like @Bill G , I’ve had so many cars and trucks over the years. I’d have to say my favorites for driving were my 95 Lightning and my 2023 2 door Heritage. The Lightning and the Heritage were/are toys to have fun with. There were plenty of years of just getting something I could afford and that had some usefulness. Fortunately, I’m of the age where I can have multiple vehicles that serve specific purposes. But, like I’ve said recently, the Sport is definitely one of my favorite all around vehicles. Maybe not the most fun to drive, but definitely one of the most useful.

I was poor and driving a .47 Chevy, but my girlfriend had a Fiat 124 Sport Spider. That car was a blast to drive down the backside of the Sandia Mountains. I passed a 6 pack Roadrunner like he was standing still. The look on his face was priceless. Okay, I didn't really see his face, I was busy staying on the road, but I wish I had.

I had a Vega that was amazingly fun to drive. I paid $100 for it and put in a steel sleeved engine and a 4 speed transmission. It had rack and pinion steering and handled like a dream. I drove it for a year or two with no air conditioning even after I moved to Tucson. Stubborn.

I loved my Jeep Liberty diesel, but I have to say my BS BL hasn't disappointed.

70 Boss 302. Had one in 85, Burnt Orange. The fool b4 me replaced the worn out 302 and 4-speed with a 390/FMX out of a Monterey. And yes, he left the Mercury valve covers on it as well as the flopping clutch peddle. Was cheap though, $400
You had a Boss 302 Mustang Very Cool and i bet you wish you still had it but with the Boss 302 and not the 390 in it!!

I'm going to post Pictures of the 4 cars i've owned that would all be my Favorites in different ways. I would say the LTDII was the most Boring with the original 351 M in it and the most fun with the 460 i put in it and it ran 13.20's @100 MPH in the 1/4 Mile and weighed 4,420 lbs with me in it.Although so far i'm really Liking the 2025 Maverick XLT AWD 2.0 EB I have now.

In the past 59 years I have had a number of favorite cars, the list is long and varied. I guess my favorite was the one I was driving at that time. For instance my favorite in 1971 was a Boss 351 Mustang that I bought at the Ford counter in the PX and picked up the morning after I got back in the states in 71. A 73 240z I bought the day after they signed the cease fire, as I had 2 weeks left in the states before leaving for Vietnam. Had a Porsche 914, a 2002 Boxster and 87 911 that also were my favorite on that day. Today my favorite is my Bronco Sport or my wife’s Maverick depending on what I’m driving. I guess I’m easily made happy and really glad to just be driving.

My favorite is my 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser Route 66 Edition. I've owned it for 16 years and use it as my show car. She's won over 100 awards since I 1st got it across 4 states. They only made around 900 of these limited addition Cruisers. "Emily's" got the moonroof, touring suspension , chrome side spheres, Special 5 spoke chrome wheels, 6 CD capacity Player, and special Route 66 badging all as standard euipment. .Really just fun to drive.

Two favorites in the past:
My first new car was a 1965 Mustang 2+2 that I bought in Nov 1964.
289 and four on the four.
The second favorite was a 2012 Mini Cooper S Roadster.
Stuck to the road like glue and was light enough to scoot with a manual six speed.
British racing green- I was COOL.

Are those Lincolns? If so, do they have the 4V DOHC 4.6 in them?
Yes. The engine that ended up being used in the Mustang Cobra. These had independent rear suspension like the Corvette of that era, and before the Mustang ever had it. Rear wheel drive, of course. Last of the American V-8 Luxury Coupes. Great cars, but very niche as collectables. But their fanbase is fanatic. They share their platform with the Thunderbird and Cougar, but those didn't have the 32V DOHC 4.6. Very ahead of their time. Fast for it's time.
