Conceptually, I kinda like it, but the mounting seems a bit dodgy (zip ties, really?).

Another issue for me would this is if you encounter someone else that might need a jump, you’re back to carrying a set of cables. With the overly fussy electronics we have in these things nowadays, I’m not taking that risk.

“The ANCEL BS200 is a permanently installed, supercapacitor-based battery booster and engine starter, rather than a traditional portable, lithium-ion battery jump pack. It is designed to be attached to a 12V car battery to provide instant starting power and monitor battery health, aimed at reducing "battery anxiety" for drivers.”

The underhood temp of many vehicles in hotter environments exceeds the storage temp of lithium batteries however the ANCEL BS200 doesn’t use lithium batteries and states it is designed for hot and cold environments

The zip tie idea is suspect. Maybe some velcro straps would work better.

Nothing I would use but threw it out there for reference and options.

I'll keep the portable one I have in the cargo area and hope It stays there.

Every Motorcraft AGM Battery should come with an ANCEL BS200 zip tied to the battery 😉

Btw the ANCEL BS200 user manual states the positive and negative leads should be direct connected to the 12V Battery positive and negative terminals and not to any other cable (not to the current sensor used on Bronco Sports)

The ANCEL BS200 states it “delivers a true 700A peak starting current, absorbing 67.5% of peak cranking load at every start, it reduces the stress that causes battery wear over time”

Eliminates the issue with lithium battery jump starters and similar lithium battery devices - I don’t keep those in my vehicles

And I don’t keep jump cables in the vehicle and don’t jump start anyone’s vehicle

In an emergency, probably could cut the zip ties and connect the ANCEL BS200 to someone’s dead vehicle instead (as long as their battery is not completely dead)

Some potential negatives (that’s 2 puns) with the ANCEL BS200 (from my limited reading so far)

Disclaimer: I do not know if any of these review comments are accurate:

1. From one review I’ve seen: “the ANCEL BS200 App tries to get your location data and then sends collected date to servers in china”. That sucks if true.

2. supercapacitors can explode due to a short circuit, how does the ANCEL BS200 design protect against that?

EDITED: The manufacturer states: “Powered by automotive-grade supercapacitors … and built for long-term under-hood installation in modern vehicles.”

3. Another review states: “The ANCEL BS200 is a poorly sealed plastic block. It doesn’t have the necessary protection against water, grease, dust and the extreme heat generated under the hood” (I disagree with the extreme heat comment - the ANCEL BS200 specs posted earlier show the supported temperature range)

EDITED: The manufacturer states: “rated IP65 for dust and water resistance, it's built for long-term under-hood installation in modern vehicle.”

4. Several reviews state the ANCEL BS200 current draw when vehicle is off drains their 12V battery relatively quickly (however the ANCEL BS200 specs state the current draw is 3mA which is very low compared with a vehicles typical current drain when the vehicle is off)

5. EDITED: Another review stated the ANCEL BS200 supercapacitors “go dead in about a day”.. that is misleading, the math shows the supercapacitors discharge in “hours” but as long as the battery voltage doest’t drop too low, the supercapacitors are kept partially charged.

The manufacturer states: “For vehicles parked for up to six months, BS200 can remain installed — its 3mA standby draw is minimal. For vehicles left unused for over six months, we recommend removing BS200 to avoid any unnecessary drain.”

So what it needs is a quick release mounting bracket and an auxiliary set of leads with clamps on the end so you can just pop it out from under the hood, walk it over to another vehicle to give a boost somebody should invent something like that.

Yeah I agree - the ANCEL BS200 isn’t that product but a non lithium battery product with the features you described would be useful - maybe an automotive grade mini nuclear fusion 12V source would be

Plan on getting 2025 Bronco Sport
We use Halo jump starter! It fits in glove compartment and also has a flash light and can pump up a flat tire, it works great!

The feature that caught my eye was the good to -40. I wouldnt want a booster that couldnt function in the winter cold when you are most likely going to need a boost.

definitely sounds real interesting. i like the app aspect monitoring the car battery as well. at $150 (currently) it's a bit out of my impulse buy range, and maybe i just mentally put that aside to go towards a yellow top someday
