I currently have a BS BL+BL on order. One option I did not place on order was getting the Off-road tire upgrade. Does anyone have any experience with their BS and the 225/65 A/T tires offroading? I'm relatively new to offroading but am looking to take full advantage of my BS BL when I get it.

if you want to take full advantage, in that case the standard 225/65 Pirelli Scorpion ATR will limit you on that part to be honest. I have a badlands with the same tire after failing to get it on my order sheet.

That being said, i’ve taken it off-road many times with these tires and they hold up, i used to go off-road (easy trails) in my subaru forester with all seasons and they did fine.

If you really want that off-road capability at full potential, good tires are a must. If you could swap them for the 235/65 wildpeaks before they build that’s what i would do.

I did the same. I figured I wouldn't be doing any major off-roading at first if at all. I will get more true off road tires when I need to get new ones. The OEM tires probably won't last 20,000 miles.

I would absolutely recommend getting the 235 Falkens if you intend to go to off-road parks. Every little bit helps, and they are very capable tires.

Yokohama Geolandar a/t g015 for me In the appropriate size.
I want the same revolutions per mile and from what I can see the 235 section width Is within 10 RPM.
I have no desire to put an even slightly taller tire on, I like my get up and go, all my gear ratio's are perfect, For me.

FWIW I have this Yoko on my escape, quiet, great traction and tracking, smooth, no crack seal steering. plenty deep treads. $139 per tire total, on the vehicle out the door tax and all fee's.

We have the Pirelli Scorpion AT Plus going on Tuesday, in stock 225/65-17 size. We wanted to keep it as "stock" as possible until the dust settles on the lifts and reliability/longevity. The Big Bend is of course not a Badlands - but I can say the vehicle is plenty capable overall, with tires definitely being a limiting factor. The AT tires will be the biggest difference, not the overall height of the vehicle or tire.

I took my Colorado ZR2 around many places, then took the Bronco through the same. I am honestly impressed at how well the vehicle behaves even with Continental tires on it.

So I have seen the 225/65/17 Scorpion tires on the BS BLs and these tires look more like "street" tires to me. I would not trust them in snow or mud. If your car has not been built yet, I would recommend calling your dealer and upgrading to the 235/65/17 Falken Wildpeak AT3Ws (see attached pictures on a BS BL, it looks pretty good on a BS BL). I ordered my BS BL with the 235s.

I wouldn't consider it to be a big deal. You can get the 235's of your choice installed locally for not much more than if you ordered them. With sales and rebates if you can catch them it should be pretty close.

all that said I agree with this sentiment. I ordered the 235s because I like the look of the bigger tire. I did not select the steelie rims but they are really growing on me. Pricing out similar rims, the $300 difference I 'saved' I can purchase similar rims for less and get what I consider better spacing and geometry with the steelie look. I'd guess the OEM are more than capable.

You don't have to get new rims to put good A/T tires on.

Oh no question about it. The OEM rims are fit for the Falken 235s. I guess my point was, my order is in, I stayed with the standard badlands rims. Looking back adding OEM steelie style rims or changing my order would add $300 more to the tire upgrade if that makes sense? (Steelies +$749 includes 235 wildpeak, 235# with OEM rims is +$449 or whatever.) I found nice steel rims for a lot less than $300 and can put the 235s on them.
Those who are debating their 225 tire choice, it's possible to find a nicer/cost effective AT tire aftermarket. They aren't missing out.. probably didn't express that very clearly.

I'm with you, it wasn't worth the extra $1500 that ford wanted for the 235 upgrade and you'll have to replace tires anyway, you can get better tires for less than $1500. Also, there is debate whether it can handle 245s so maybe they'll have it settled.

$1,500? On Badlands its either $795 for Steelies AND AT tires or $495 for AT tires on the standard Badland wheels. So $300 difference between Steelies or no Steelies when getting AT tires.

On tirerack.com I am seeing the 235/65R17 Wildpeak A/T3W tires at $697 for four then figure another $100 for mount and balance. So cheaper to order it with them already on there. If you have months/weeks until production your dealer can add the tires.

Yes you are absolutely correct, cheaper to order than aftermarket. $495 to add.plus it will already have the 1 inch left included.

Oops, sorry, wrong figure off the top of my head, actually I think it was $495 for the 235's, but still, it's not costing Ford an extra $99 a tire!
