The 235/70/17 (30") size works, but there are very limited selections in that size. The Goodyear Wrangler Workhorse AT that JRL used is one. The Yokohama A/T GO15 is another and has been used by folks on this board with positive reviews. Others that run this size are the Firestone Destination A/T2 and The Cooper Discoverer AT3. The rest are HT tread patters. None of the big AT names like BFG, Toyo, Falken, Nitto, etc make this size, which is odd. If one of those is what you want, then your only options are the 245/65/17 (29.5") or the 235/65/17 (29").

Cooper discoverer AT3 is discontinued. That was my original pick.

Ah okay I understand thanks and yes I’m certain the badlands and FE have the same suspension. So if it worked for you it should work for me.
If you try to push past 235/70/17 and that will be 245/70/17 you very possibly will get some rub on the liners that extra 10 mm on width might just push you over the rub zone . Just my opinion. Right now I have about 1/2 inch clearance .

Is it close absolutely for sure , but that only counts in horse shoes, that was sort of a play on words. HORSE ? SHOES I-will silently depart now .

Do we know what the original diameter is, at least on a Big Bend?

My Goodyear are 30 inch exactly , my stock tires came with falken wildpeck 235/65/17 they are 29 inch. I think a Big Ben would be 28 inch .’

A good offroad tire has a stiff sidewall to prevent pinching it against the rim and splitting. That is why serious offroaders like tall tires. In the tires that will fit a stock BS, only the KO2 has stiff sidewalls. In most applications there is a benefit to having a larger contact patch with the surface, 245s provide the largest contact patch and KO2s the stiffest sidewall. Only one tire has both those qualities.

Now that there are enough people who have upgraded tires, these two sizes rise to the top for biggest tire you can fit with no mods. Would like to hear from people who have done it.
I did 245/70/17 kanati Trail hog A/T and LOVE them. I live in rural Wyoming and needed a 10ply. They did fine no rub for a day before the lift but I had the rough country put on because of clearance issues for the 2 tracks on our farm.

The OEM diameter on a BB would be 28.5" (225/65/17). On a BL it could be either 28.5 (225/65/17) or 29" (235/65/17 - if the optional Falkens are selected). On an OB it is still 28.5" (225/60/18).

BS'ers:

For those running on 235/70/17's, are you running with the 1" spacer? If so, does that alter ther rubbing factor (would think yes as I'm on 235/65/17 with the Falken Wildpeaks and almost rub).

Much thanks for any/all information.
