The font.

my husband says it looks like a box and can’t believe I’m buying a car for its font. Of course, I almost named my child Garamond Bodoni. :)
We all have our kryptonite. I have a weakness for serifs.

I owned a '79 BEAST which was stolen years ago. When the Bronco and sport released I was all in. Delays in the Bronco and availability/performance/my needs the sport was a no-brainer. It's been perfect.

2022 Bronco Sport Outer Banks, 2005 Honda Civic
We were on our first big trip after COVID in 2021. I'd been looking to replace my 2005 base Honda Civic since about 2018 before but was in no rush. My '05 runs like a top, and I just couldn't find 'it.' The car I wanted, something different, something FUN. I saw some of the You Tube stuff on the BS and was intrigued.

After hours in the plane and finally taking off our masks, we were waiting in the heat outside the Denver airport in a Hertz queue to pick up our rental Toyota Camry. They were having trouble getting people cars, and the woman in charge just began to offer people whatever the guys brought up. She offered us a pick up truck. My husband said, "Nope." She offered us the Bronco Sport and I said, "Yes!" before he could respond.

We drove that little base model all over up in the mountains, down to Colorado Springs, Garden of the Gods, etc. Had a bit of a picnic in the back one day, filled it with our bags and it had room to spare. Drove it where Camrys fear to tread. I was impressed when I drove it. "Only three cylinders," I said. "Cars usually have more than that?" my DH asked.

So I became obsessed. BS were scarce on the ground. Prices were crazy. I've kept my eyeball to the grindstone --uhm internet-- searching. I discovered this forum and learned so much about the BS that I felt I could confidently inspect used ones for possible problems. Today I bought an Outer Banks in cactus gray!

Aside from the bottle opener I bought mine to replace my 2016 expedition xlt 4x4 that I dearly loved. I had sold it just prior to lock down to get a f150 and well we all saw what happened to the truck market. 3 years down the road I'm driving a 2020 ecosport titanium 4x4 that I was about to give to my daughter to get to and from school. I got the "4x4" because I felt it was safer for my daughter to drive in rain and mild snow. Then I get rear-ended/ totaled and finding myself unable to afford another expedition. (Thank you ccp). I found myself drawn to the bronco sport badlands as it was the best most affordable option of 4x4. I have had Wranglers, Cherokee classics, Cherokee chiefs, expeditions, explorers. I loved jeeps, but found I just didn't like the interiors and design decisions jeep has made over the years. I know they are more than capable off roaders, but so are ford's. The more jeeps I owned the more I wondered what was out there. The more ford 4x4s I own the more I wanted to stick to Ford. The cabin design, drive experience, capability offer me everything I would want. No on gmc, Chevy or Toyota. I just didn't dig the interior layout. Ford made an affordable option for those of us that can't go big bronco or expedition. I think I'll be buried in my BS. Thank you Ford

I had a really good salesman.

Here's the story, though. I had been driving a 2006 Accord with 206k miles. I decided to change the VTEC solenoid since it was leaking. You know, a little maintenance. I ended up streaming a bolt. That really messed things up but my brother ground it off, I drove 2 hours to a Honda with some bolts, and got to putting it back together. Until I over torqued a bolt (it never clicked, in my defense, but it was a cheap one I bought at Autozone). The bottom bolt is the one I had to work with. From the top, it was reaching over the engine and I couldn't even see it. From the bottom, it was reaching all the way up with needle nose pliers to barely grasp it. I threw in the towel and decided to go car shopping. I had planned to do this a couple of months later, anyway.

I drove to San Antonio (2 hours away) to look at a couple of Accords. I wasn't feeling them and the salesmen weren't being honest. I also had my eye on a Passport EX-L about 3 hours away. I decided to make the drive. I got there, to a Ford dealership, and test drove the Passport. I wasn't feeling it. I've driven SUVs before, I've driven Hondas, but this just didn't feel good. They had a couple of Accord LXs on the lot and I didn't like them, either.

A bit of a backstory. A couple of years ago, I took my dad to a doctor's appointment. He said I needed to get an SUV to carry him around as it's easier to get out of. So I had that on my mind. My brother also told me not to get the Passport since it looked like a mom's car. He said to get something cool, get something white.

So I'm standing around, trying to decide what I'm going to do. I had bummed a ride with my mom so I felt bad making her go through all this. The salesman came up and said just think about what you want, he wanted me to be happy, and oh yeah, these just came in today as he pointed to 3 Bronco Sports. A Robin Egg Blue Heritage, a dark one, and an Oxford White Big Bend. I told him to get the keys and I'll check it out. He brought the keys to the Oxford White.

Now, before this, I had just seen whatever video Doug Demuro did on YouTube on them. I wasn't really interested. My dad drove an Eddie Bauer edition Bronco for work back in the 90s. My brother was actually telling me to get one (a full size Sasquatch) but I've normally been a simple guy. My cars were never worth more than $15k. As I'm getting older, I was think I was starting to get into overlanding or mild off roading. Nothing like crazy Jeep rock crawling but just getting out there and seeing the world.

Overall, I'm pretty satisfied. I've taken it off road a few times. Gone on some little road trips. It was right at the edge of my budget but if I were to do it again, I think I'd still get a Big Bend but with the Convenience Package, Tow Package, and Co-Pilot++. Maybe the Black Diamond Package too, if that's even a thing still.

I had the opposite experience at Honda. I had driven over 90miles to get to my BSBL on the promise of no haggling or sneaky add-ons. They took a deposit over the phone and had even priced it less than thousands below other dealers. I think it all depends on the dealership and salesmen. I had walked out in a gorgeous 1st edition I wanted so bad, but the dealership and salesmen were so shady I had to leave. Lost 2 hours of my life there. I had bee in a rental for almost 3 months and wasn't ready to compromise. Right BSBL at the right price.

This Ford snuck in a paint protection plan. They had it marked on their cars as Diamond Ceramic and never gave me a good answer when I asked. They said I’d get that information when I went to finance. In finance, I don’t remember seeing that paper and the one I got doesn’t have my signature but it was listed on my receipt or whatever it’s called. I plan to make use of it if anything comes up in the next 7 years.

They also tinted the windows. It was kind of expensive but I didn’t have to make an appointment and do all that stuff, so I didn’t feel too bad on that one.

Well I'm a bit of a Ford fan to start with. No longer needed my F250SD since I sold our trailer. Start looking for something that I could hit some light trails with along with serving as our travel vehicle with decent fuel mileage. Had a boxie 2012 Escape and liked it, the Bronco looked similar to it. Bronco is good looking and looks like fun. Looked at a few small SUV's but they all seemed boring and would not handle any off road duty. Only other one I really considered was the the Honda Passport with its reliable V6. But it just seemed plain, also they have not upgraded the trailsport to handle offroad duty. Its only a cosmetic package so far. Bronco is so much more nimble than the SuperDuty. Haha

Oh yeah, use it as often as you can.

The dealer I bought from had the paint protection, window etch and tinted windows add on. Told them I was not paying for it and would wait tell end of month for their red one to come in. So they removed the charges and we negotiated from MSRP. Will be taking the Bronco Sport into a shop to have PPF put on the front in a week. I don't like dealer addons and warranties, it seems to turn into a battle when ever you try to file a claim.

I ordered a Maverick Lariat Hybrid. Decided I wanted to go ahead and sell my trade-in now rather than let the value keep going down over the next 8-12 months waiting on the Maverick. Was at my dealer getting my trade in appraised and saw this BS Outer Banks edition sitting in the show room. I had that reaction upon seeing it of “oh my, I really really like that”. Price was right and very comparable to the Maverick I’d ordered despite the BS having more interior niceties and looking a touch more upscale inside. So I pulled trigger on the BS and am loving it.

Wanted a full size Bronco but since I recently bought a Ranger this was gonna be more her car and she didn't want something so big. Her only demands for a new vehicle is leather interior and sun roof.

I bought an Explorer Sport in 2016. Absolutely love it, but it somehow turned into my wife’s car, and I ended up driving her 2009 Accord, because it got much better mpg and I do more driving.

The Accord had nearly 200K miles on it and got super unreliable. In and out of the mechanic, we kept dumping money into it.

My original plan was to get a 2-door full size Bronco, and let my wife keep driving the Explorer. She didn’t go for that.

We test drove a RAV-4 and a CRV. The Toyota drove tight, and the CRV, well, it just seems that an AARP membership is a pre-requisite for ownership. We settled on the Bronco Sport and absolutely love it. It feels almost identical to the Explorer in driver and front seat, and nearly twice the mpg!
"CRV an AARP membership is a pre-requisite for ownership. " LOLOL
