MUDHORN

it’s named after a Star Wars universe character from the Mandalorian series. It’s also a combination of ‘Mud’ and my last name.

One hit wonder????
Red Rider did much better in their native Canada than the U.S.

The only song of theirs that I recall getting airplay was "Lunatic Fringe."

Here's more info about the band:
https://www.allmusic.com/artist/red-rider-mn0000883619#biography

One interesting bit of trivia:

"After one further outing, 1989's The Symphony Sessions (an album of old favorites recorded with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra), Cochrane officially left for a solo career, and Red Rider disbanded, this time for good. Cochrane went on to score a massive solo hit -- in America -- with the Top Five smash "Life Is a Highway" in 1992."

I never named any of my cars. I did own a car that was named by someone else. A '69 VW Beetle. I bought it from my college Physics professor. It was named Charlie, but I don't know if it was named by my professor, wife or one of their children, or perhaps a classmate.
That got me thinking...I had a childhood stuffed animal. It just happened to be a horse and named "Charlie." Specifcally, "Charlie Horse." Some of the older folks may remember Charlie Horse from a children's TV show. I don't remember asking for the Charlie Horse doll. I was 5 years old when I got him and experiencing severe health problems which escalated from a bad cold to an ear infection, to a kidney infection. The cure? Penicillin crushed up in grape jelly. It was decades before I could eat grape jelly without tasting the bitterness of the crushed penicillin tablets.

My Charlie Horse doll was given away about 3 years ago, when family cleared out our Dad's house.
But now, having a Bronco Sport, I wanted him back as my horse themed mascot. I was lucky enough to find a replacement on Etsy.
Who is Charlie Horse? In 1961, Shari Lewis, a ventriloquist, had a children's program. Her most popular puppets were Lamb Chops, Charlie Horse, and Hush Puppy. Many people who remember Shari Lewis' show, remember Lamb Chop, but few remember Charlie Horse. Those who do remember him, remember that he was something of a snarky character, and that's probably why I became fond of him. My other favorite characters are Charlie McCarthy, Donald Duck, Alf, and Walter: all character with either smart alecks, snarky or grumpy personalities.
These days, Charlie Horse would not be socially acceptable for entertainment...a somewhat homely character with buck teeth. Tsk, Tsk. What child would want such an ugly toy?
So, am I naming my Bronco Sport Charlie? Nope, as I explained in another thread, after my salesman became very animated, excited, and on the edge of anger in discussing clients who confused the Bronco Sport with the big Bronco. The Bronco Sport was just an illusion for those waiting for the big Bronco. This the first time I have personalized plates, aka "Vanity Plates."

That plush is actually really cute! Goofy looking but still cute. several people have asked me what my Bronco's name is but it doesn't have a name or gender lol My neighbor refers to it as "she" which is fine but I never thought of naming my car. I did one time slip up and say "She will get us around these cars" So maybe I have a female car. I am a female so I like the idea of it being a powerful woman maybe. hahaha

I did Look...
I guess not hard enough.
Oops
I am glad you posted this because I didn't see the other thread and I have been on here a couple years too like the other owner that mentioned it. Or at least I do not recall it. I didn't give my car a name but I get asked that question often. My first car was a yellow '79 Mercury Bobcat that I named "Lemon Meringue". I hated that car lol

Here's one list. It's limited to women who are living though (except Barbie!):

I do name my vehicles. I wasn't very original with the BS as I thought "Badlands" was good enough.

When my kids were younger, they were being loud and I told them they were hurting Billy's ears (my 1979 Bronco Ranger XLT). Silly joke but naming our vehicles has stuck. Yes Billy from the Clint Eastwood's movie Bronco Billy. My wife has continued with her 2024 Robins Egg Blue Heritage BS, named Betty. So remember stupid jokes have consequences.

We sure hope you're loving being behind the wheel of Billy and Betty! Thanks for sharing, Stephen.

Unfortunately Billy is long gone. I had to sell Billy when I went to Korea. Billy was a 4 speed and the wife doesn't drive a stick. But the wife's BS stable mate is my 68 halfcab project.
