Today I finished an image file in photoshop for cutting a decal. I am posting a jpg version here for anyone who would like to make their own. I used the sketch from the Ford media site and fonts in PS to my liking. I hope you all like it. Thanks.

Well, yesterday I put on a set of 245/65/17 roadcruza’s

I found a set of focus rims which were the right bolt pattern but wrong offset.
Since I had the wheel off fixing the inner fender(more on that in a minute) I decided to see if 35’s would fit?

But… on to what I did to it….
So far we have tore off two skid plates, ripped out the inner fender, broke the windshield and the latest.. tore apart the “skid plate cover”??

wife bottomed it out while trail riding with her girlfriend, I taped it but that lasted until it hit the highway the first time.
So, pulled the cover off;

Then used a piece of aluminum (it just looks like an aluminum road sign… nothing to see here, move along..??

Now I’ll have to undercoat it to cover the screws!

The rest of it has been fixed already, but more to come??

Oh yes for sure. When I say skid plate though, I should clarify, it’s not really skid plates as much as it is an aerodynamic cover over the actual skid plates. I was tempted to leave this cover off completely and make a proper skid plate, but I just fixed this one.
The issue is tearing the …. Ummmm… plastic/felt/whatever it is, (cover ?) or pulling it off over the nuts that hold it in place. The first time, it was hanging down because the nut was pulled off. The next time, it was pulled down over the nut. The last time it was ripped when the wife bottomed out on a rock and slid forward to get off instead of backing off the rock.
So, an actual aluminum or steel skid plate wouldn’t of been damaged, but I’m guessing the cover helps with mpg.
A concern I do have is the ecu being inside the front left fender… not sure what ford was thinking there. Maybe they wanted an “off road looking” truck to replace the escape and never considered people would do what I’m doing?? Awd and goat modes should do 99% of “soft roading” but what happens when someone does take it out in the “holy crap” area’s??
At some point I’m going to go over the underneath and add actual skid plates if/where required as well as look at the front skid plate which I think is a little light.
So, short answer is yes, aftermarket plates would be awesome but you still have to deal with the felt underbody cover and felt inner fenders.(again, felt, held in with plastic push pins, ford, what were you thinking???)
