Our water pump was replaced today with 22,700 miles , build date Dec. 2020 , purchased in Jan. of 2021. I will ask if they installed the new version . I smelled coolant when the BS was just pulled into the Garage everyday & it didn't leak much , but I did add Coolant almost daily , just not much . Waited till the engine cooled & added to the Low level line .

Water Pump was in stock .

For almost everyone, it should be a warrantied item (zero cost). Cheers!

The procedure currently calls for a flush of the system incident to replacing the pump. Considering both parts and labor, $600 doesn't sound too far off the mark for a dealership. Since it's out of warranty there's no reason you have to take to a dealership; consider getting an estimate from a local independent shop. Many do not have the same level of overhead as a dealership service shop, so labor rates can be much lower.

Local shop was $600. Ford was $1,100 and magically came down when that quote was shared…?

At some point in the last 5k miles my water pump had an event and fail. Left coolant everywhere (not in my parking areas) and shredded my serpentine belt. The dealership is struggling with the belt replacement. Anyone else have this issue? It seems that it’s common here but the service writer told me not to believe the things I read here. For reference I’m located in north central CO.
Just curious - what is the year model of your BS and what was the mileage when you experienced the water pump failure? I have a 21 BB with 40K miles and have been monitoring my fluid level due to the stories on this forum - no problem so far…..

It's not my vehicle. It's a buddies. It's a 2021 with the 1.5T. He has 65k on it and it went into limp mode and flashed several warnings on the app on his phone. Most was low coolant and then an underboost condition, which came from the coolant being low - engine protecting itself. Ultimately, there was no coolant in the reservoir. He filled and the lights went off and it drove fine. But, the vehicle again ate all the coolant. He took it to an indy and they said it was the water pump. Then priced it there, and with Ford. Seems a common issue, unfortunately...
