The keypad was installed at the factory & is part of the black trim on the drivers side door window surround is the best way I can describe without taking a picture & I am not near the vehicle now.

I am going to add in what happened to me this past Saturday. I always start my BS and place the FOB in a cup holder while I open the garage door (manually) because I don't like to hear the horn when I walk to the front of the vehicle. As a precaution I also always roll a window down anytime I walk away and it's running. I pulled out of the garage, shut the vehicle off and went back to close the garage door (forgot to put the FOB back in my pocket). After locking my garage I remembered something I needed in the house and walked in to get in. When I went back to my BS, the doors were locked (autolock) and the FOB was still in the cup holder. I just reached through the open window and opened the door, but it was a surprise that it locked itself.

I tested this issue on my Badlands. Started the car, left the fob on the cubby under the HVAC panel, opened the door, locked it using the button on the door, then got out and shut the door. The horn sounded twice, and the door unlocked as expected. If yours doesn't behave this way then you should have it looked at by your service department.

@Mark S. There’s two different scenarios posted in this thread:

1) OP @DesertRat19 stated the FordPass App was used to remotely start the Bronco Sport. (Many people have stated the similar case that OP reported so it’s possibly one of the aspects of FordPass App remote start - full details are in OPs post).

2) @Beninchesapeake scenario included shutting the vehicle off (see that post for a full description).

The scenario you stated is a valid scenario but is different from #1 and #2. What you stated is the correct behavior for the bronco sport as documented in the Owners Manual but that still leaves #1 and #2 - when I get some free time I’ll check those cases on my Badlands.
