I just read this on my Seeking Alpha home page. Lets hope that their sending chips our way!

Ford said it was diverting its scarce semiconductor
supply to finish nearly completed vehicles that are awaiting
chips before being sent to dealers, whose lots are emptying out.

"We're prioritizing completing our customers' vehicles that
were assembled without certain parts due to the industrywide
semiconductor shortage," Ford said in an emailed statement to Bloomberg.
"This is in line with our commitment to get our customers their
vehicles as soon as possible."

I take that to mean we are not the customers, dealerships are Ford's customers - the places with empty lots.

I took it to mean you are a customer with an order and cash in hand. Dealers need you as a completed sale. Everyone is pinched. I just posted a link sharing only 36% of semiconductors are tagged for the auto industry. There are many other consumer applications under the same complications.

My dealer told me that they were told not to expect cars for the lots until at least August. I've decided that if my Bronco doesn't come in by Sept, that I'm going to cancel my order and buy a 2022. I don't want a car that's sat in the sun for 4+ months. I've waited this long, what's a few more months.

I interpret as Ford is prioritizes customer ordered vehicles over dealer inventory. Ford is really pushing the order a vehicle concept.

Same here. If Ford cant get it to me by August I am going to order a '22 and some one else can pay over sticker for my ordered '21 that baked in desert sun for several months.

My delivery is still still 7/6. My dealer salesman in Albany said that it is currently in Buffalo and should arrive in Albany/selkirk yard "soon"

OB/OB (w/o moon) w/ tow, ordered on 3/31.
My delivery somehow was moved up. I got mine on 6/23.

Yeah it seems like the delivery eta is exceptionally long and most arrive weeks before the eta. Congrats and enjoy!
I'm really pleased. I got to use the rain sensing wipers yesterday. I'm still trying to see where the cutoff on the switch is from intermittent (non rain sensing) to rain sensitivity.

I am officially out of the waiting room. Picked up my OB this morning and have been driving around. It is fun! Had lots of lookers! Don't give up, they will come!

Well guys, I'm out. I need a vehicle and IMHO worsening supply/production issues got me concerned enough that I went back to Toyota. Yeah... I said no more Toyotas after 20 years of nothing but, but I guess that's all I know.

4Runner was the primary candidate until I had to actually interact with the local dealers. Man oh man, I've gotten "we can't give you out-of-the door number" or plain "we need your SSN to hold it" replies. Aside from that 4Runner's price and gas mileage were 2 main concerns.

So in the end after randomly checking out all local Toyota dealers I came by 2 TRD Offroad RAV4s in the color similar to my BS Cactus Grey order called Luna Rock. IMHO Toyota's color got more green in it whereas CG has more grey. Blacked out TRD emblems and rims don't make RAV4 more offroad worthy but there is enough there for me to think that I'll be able to get to/from my gravel snow covered hill in the winter. Test drive and paperwork are mostly done, picking it up tomorrow, hopefully.

Not sure if I'm gonna ask for BS deposit refund just yet or see where it lands. I don't need 2 cars and I'm pretty sure dealer will be more than happy to sell it way over MSRP.

I plan on holding on to RAV4 for a few years with the intention of trading it in for Bronco after this craze subsides.

Don't blame you. Production and delivery for Bronco Sport sketchy at best at this point. Resale on the Jap brands is outstanding they really stand out in that regard. Sure you get great trade in if your Badlands ever shows up. And if you make a trade in couple years the Rav will do great value wise.
