I just felt better having the dealer install the cover for those reasons.... They also installed the a longer oil filler cap....

Roger that. But the two hoods I opened and saw engine covers arrived the first week in December.
That means they may have been sitting in the Mexican desert since before July waiting on some other part.
That seems more likely ya think?
I’ve seen pictures of no cover I’ve been wanting to see one up close so I’ll pop a few more hoods.
It has nothing to do with order status. They simply stopped putting them on after a certain date. There was an official bulletin issued which you can find somewhere in this thread.

Were the two you looked at Badlands? The 2.0s come with them. If not, then as you say, they were old builds that were sitting nearly 6 months or so. Could be one of those things the dealers add on and make the sticker say:

Paint Protection Package $2,500
Interior Protection $1,250
Theft Recovery System $950
Roadside Emergency Kit $214
Engine Cover $836
Market Adjustment $5,500
Total additional costs: $11,250

Then, they wait.

The 2.0L EcoBoosts on the Badlands and First Edition still came with engine covers.

I'm pretty sure "Osco " knows the difference in a 1.5 LT & a 2.0 LT Eco boost motor or a FE & BL model .

If you check any others open driver side door and build date will be on the sticker on B pillar. Prob early built units before cover delete took over.

Yup, and a lot of those are now headed to dealer lots as inventory since people had to move on or found it another way. I know 2 people that just reordered for 2022.

I bought a badlands off the dealer lot brand new about 2 months ago everything is still prestine show room quality. You act like these things are so fragile lol. In a few weeks its going to sit in freezing temps covered in ice/snow/salted roads during the winter I hope it doesn't break...just kidding :)
