If there was a better tire selection in a 235/70/17 and it fit in the spare tire well I'd be more interested in that size, since there is not, I'll stay with either 245/65/17's or 245/70/16's, like my Nokian Outpost NAT's, on my 16" Method Bead Grips. If Method or someone else, had a rugged, 16" wheel, with a larger offset, like the OEM wheels, I'd consider a 245/75/16, since I have a 2" lift but my 16x7, +30 Method's barley clear at full lock.
You might want to look at 235/70/17 Goodyear wrangler workhorse. I have them on my 2021 First Edition .No issues with them. No lift .

Do they fit in the spare tire well?
I think it was said once you need to remove the insulation pad. My 235-65 fits with the pad still in.

I ended up with Goodyear Wrangler Workhorse ATs. They are 30" tires. I tried to fit it in the spare tire space, and even with the sound deadening pad taken out it doesn't quite fit. It leaves a couple of inches of space below the tire, so it raises the cover a couple of inches. Not a deal breaker. I'm willing to lose a little cargo space for the added clearance. I'll figure out something I need to store under the spare. I do turn the spare upside down to get storage space.

Even with the KO2s on my Liberty, I sliced a sidewall on a sharp rock with the tires aired to about 25 psi.

Fwy. Up here in Ontario Canada I put Good year assurance all weather 245/65 R17 tires . they work great in 2 ft of snow and packed snow. They are quite on the hi way too. And the ride is not s harsh as before. just drove down to FL. Going to try them on the sand.

I have a 235/65/17 spare, works for me .
Do they fit without any modifications (other than moving the floor to the upper level)?

I'm really leaning towards the Trail Terrains. I do mostly pavement driving but I'd like to take it to the beach or some trails. There's not much where I live in Texas (other than beach) so it's something I won't do too often.

I really considered some kind of trek this last week while I was on vacation but my OE tires aren't looking too healthy after 20,000 miles. I didn't want to risk it.
