I was out in the desert country last week with my Badlands and noticed I had more trouble on some of the hills than last year. Alas, my Falken 235/65R17's are almost worn out after only 34,000 miles, and I noticed the difference. I put it in Sand mode and did power skids around a couple of very sharp corners. I was running on trails that full size rigs don't run on. These trails are used mostly by UTVs.
I check my tire pressure regularly, and noticed a couple of tires were losing pressure. When I got home, I found a screw in one tire, and a mesquite thorn in another. The tire with the screw had two nails in it also. I love having the tire pressure monitors. I carry a compressor and plug kit, but haven't had to use it on my rig yet.
I tested my skid plates on this trip, and made a couple of wash crssings that scraped both in front and in back. When I replace these tires, I'm going with 235/70R17s. That will give me another 1/2" or so.
