IRS is stating 21 days or less right now for refunds. Beats waiting until April and getting the refund in six weeks or more!

Wow, that was quick on the Federal side! Our AZ state refund came on the 6th as well.I filed our taxes on February 2 and got both Fed refund deposited February 9 and AZ refund direct deposited on February 6.
I'm a little concerned about the Arizona tax. It seems that our illustrious governor, Katie Hobbs is playing games. The state legislature had not passed the law implementing the federal tax changes to the state tax code, but Hobbs authorized the printing of the forms that included the changes. Then she asked the legislature to do their part, only for her to veto the bill. It's possible that we will all need to refile and pay more taxes. She should be impeached for that move.Wow, that was quick on the Federal side! Our AZ state refund came on the 6th as well.
Maybe our Federal was a little more complex this year with some of the new deductions (overtime, "old folks" bonus, etc.). I figure it'll settle down next year with just two retirement 1099's and two SSA-1099's. Luckily my disability is non-reportable to it all.
It's likely that we won't pay a dime of state tax going forward (both our retirements are generally tax-exempt in AZ; mine is military, hers is state LEO, and SSRB is non-taxable in AZ), so other than a one-year glitch I'm not going to sweat it too much. I'd still remove her from office anyway on general principles.I'm a little concerned about the Arizona tax. It seems that our illustrious governor, Katie Hobbs is playing games. Remind them that they've got until January 31st each year to have that sent. Kind of a federal law. Maybe they forgot. I'm sure the IRS would be happy to remind them.I’m still waiting on documentation from two financial organizations! Got one of the three remaining today. I don’t expect one until the end of February if they follow past history.
Yup, I’ve got one like that; holds me up every year . . . and this year’s no different!I’m still waiting on documentation from two financial organizations! Got one of the three remaining today. I don’t expect one until the end of February if they follow past history.
There must be some exemption because all the brokerage houses are not published until February. I’m guessing it’s because they have to wait until the end of January for some as well.Remind them that they've got until January 31st each year to have that sent. Kind of a federal law. It’s normally a week between when they are published online and when they are received in the mail. They give you an option if you want them mailed or not. Most are trying to go paperless. Many issuers of 1099's no longer actually put them in the mail. You might have to go online to their website and download them. If you have not received your information returns yet check the financial organization website.
Also information return payers can file for an automatic 30 day extension (F15397) of the January 31st date so they might not be mailed out until the end of February.
I asked my wife who is an advisor at a financial/retirement planning firm. The law says that the 1099 forms have to be available (post-marked or available for download) by Feb 1. However, the companies can apply for a 30 day extension, as you said... but there can be more to the situation. Many investments are mutual fund type bundles of stocks, etc. If any investment within that bundle applies for an extension, it delays all of the funds that includes that stock/investment. Sometimes the delay is for earnings reports or similar info and it delays the whole fund's 1099s. Our grandson has money in one fund that has been delayed for at least the last 3 years - and it's been a different stock/investment each year. There must be some exemption because all the brokerage houses are not published until February.
