How did you figure a year or two?As pointed out in the video, the system is designed to reduce emissions. I'm all for that. The video states that Toyota starters are designed to do 380,000 starts. That should last a year or two.
What is the opposite of hyperbole? I had to google it. It is Litotes. Understatement isn't a strong enough word. Clearly, I'm not worried aobut my starter wearing out. I remember my '47 Chevy starter took about a minute to start (on a good day). This Bronco takes about a second. How did you figure a year or two?
I thought it could be normal too especially after the software update but raised the issue to the Dealer to at least check the battery health and the Auto Stop Start is working again at 28 degrees so happy to get the AGM battery.Could be normal - due to the cold weather
see posts #4, #40 or your owners manual for a list of reasons why auto stop start does not engage
You did much, much better in math in school then that other poster! How did you figure a year or two?
I did 380,000 divided by 365 days to get 1041 years at one start/day. Then I divided that by 20 starts/day and got 52 years. That's assuming driving every day and starting 20 times. I think on my way to and from work, in the city, it stops/starts maybe 8 times total.
This exact thing happened to me a couple of days ago. I had my BS at the dealer and one I asked them to test the battery because one of my issues was even though I am driving it around enough I thought to charge the EFB battery I kept getting the same "Engine on due to vehicle charging" and the Auto start stop has not worked since early December. They tested the battery and the SOC was 67% and the battery failed the test. They replaced it with an AGM battery. 10 months old.I have a EFB and it's coming up to three years old (original was replaced by Ford when with only 8 months on it). When I see, "Engine on due to vehicle charging" I usually place the battery on a tender which tends to do the trick on solving the issue. Well this past week the message presented itself and I did my usual thing. Regardless how long I left the tender on, I could not get rid of the message. My voltage is great so I was confused on the matter. I took the vehicle to Ford and the end result was, I need a replacement battery. The SOH was at 67%. Ford is selling me the AGM with only a two year warranty. Getting a replacement from Canadian Tire with a five year warranty instead due to the failure rates of batteries these days. PS the dollar cost is the same.
