I like the B&O system in my Badlands. Mainly got it because I have the same in my Lariant Ranger and didn't want to notice a difference when switching vehicles. I know real world problems huh? Lol

If my passengers ever complain with the sound from a radio in one of my vehicles, I start singing.

Soon after, they like the radio.

I agree with most of the above it is very good compared to new vehicles, though my old highlander's oem jbl system had much better base, mind it was a 2005

Upgraded my Big Bend to 4 Alpine speakers, an Alpine 4 ch. amplifier, an Audio Control lc2i Pro, and a Rockford Fosgate 300 watt 8" subwoofer...Factory was OK, the upgrade kicks ass!
So the wife and I had 2017 and 2018 Escapes with the Sony system, made sure when we got our new Sports, that they had the B&O system. The subwoofer is probably the main thing we were after. Heard a rumor at work today (if you don’t like the rumor you heard, start your own) that only the head unit is B&O, the speakers are still base Ford speakers. We’re laughing (mainly me) and glad this is all we have to ponder on this week. She knows I’ll be on this forum, and the Crutchfield website this week, looking to upgrade!!!

It's a lousy stereo at best. Looking forward to upgrading the particularly cheap and lousy speakers sometime soon.
There's some good reading along with some excellent and thoughtful improvement discussed in this thread...

I have to assume that folks that purchase a vehicle try out all the features and make a decision to buy, knowing their personal pros and cons about it.

For the price, the BS had what I was looking for.

You are assuming that a vehicle would be available to test. In the first 2+ years of BS sales, for multiple reasons, most people did not have the option to "test" a vehicle before ordering.

The B&O actually has upgraded factory speakers, but crap is still crap lol. Honestly the B&O isn't worth it tbh. Its a "premium" cheap system

20-year-old me, with 20-year-old ears not blasted for the next 40+ years with 5000+ hours of jet engine noise and who knows how much loud music would likely have agreed with you. Present-day me thinks the stereo could be improved for music sources, but is perfectly adequate for listening to audio books and podcasts.

The Ford B&O system is the absolute worst "premium" audio system I've ever heard in any car I've ever owned, driven, been in, rented, etc. It's laughably terrible (in a relative way) and I am nowhere near an audiophile. I have no audio equipment at home or anything like that.

It's not that I think the B&O system sounds bad, necessarily. It sounds about the same as the standard audio you'd have found in a brand new 2002 Honda Accord LX. But for the "premium" upgraded audio, it's just, well .... not. In no way does it offer any audio that's better than any base model vehicle on the market today.

My 2019 F-350 had to go in for warranty work in late 2019 and they gave me a base F-150 as a loaner. It had cloth seats and base stereo system. It could have been the acoustically better cloth seats (as opposed to the more reflective leather in my truck), but the base stereo sounded better to my ear than my truck's B&O.

So, it wouldn't surprise me at all if that were the case here ... where the base audio of BS is about the same quality to the average listener as the B&O. The cheapest and easiest way to smooth over cheap speakers and amplification is to add some bass (and I'm not talking about teenager-ish thumping bass ... just a nice musical bass). But the BS doesn't even do that with its anemic 6x9" woofer.
