Spare tire mount

I wanted a full size spare carrier and none of the after market ones would work without blocking the license plate and backup camera ,so built my own ,I think it turned out great .

I might raise the tire a few more inches to give the camera a better view, it works like it is ,but I would like a little more view to the right , in the Pic the license is blocked a little but if I backed up a few feet I can see it fine.

My next project will be a roof rack , don't like any of the ones i see online ,and I think I have enough aluminum tubing to build the one I want , any recommendations for the cross bars , that don't ride to much above the rails ?

Update, finished the EM bike rack , all aluminum, turned out pretty good , I wanted to keep the length as short as possible, so I made it with the frt tire turned , my aluminum welding skills need improvement, but I'm working on it , next project aluminum roof rack.

That nut and bolt to the right of the latch, does it attach to the hidden recovery threaded port , if so what is the size and thread pitch , was wanting to use that port to stabilize my design.

That's what I used it for, I could not find it because it's reverse tread so I bought a recovery point bolt and cut it and welded 3/4 rod to it.

IIRC, the Recovery Eye is left-hand threaded. I forget the size and pitch. Cheers!

Nice work! If I had your welding skills I'd add a rack for a gas can on the left side. Off-raod, the gas mileage goes down to about 10 mpg.
