The genies out of the bottle when it comes to electronics in today's vehicles.
That’s why I put my $50 to hold a Slate Truck. No screens, no radio, comes with crank windows, real controls for the HVAC, over a 100 DIY options already announced for those with the need to mod.

I can put in my own iPhone or iPad if I need that and use only voice commands

Would use only for in town (due to it’s limited to me) 150 mile range

Everyone complains about the electronics but they keep buying new vehicles. If you don't want electronics why not just spend the 30k fixing up an older model car that doesn't have the electronics?

That's what I should have done. I got a settlement for a job injury that netted me 90k. I Should have bought a 79 Ford pickup an put a Cummins in it or a 68 International D series 3/4-ton truck. Instead I bought a 2015 RAM 2500 Diesel 4x4 that I ultimately traded it in for the Bronco Sport

As long as you live in an area that doesn’t use excessive amounts of road seasoning salts in the winter. The cars I drive all year don’t seem to last more than 20 years before the frames are shot.

To be honest, I really haven’t had many electronic issues over the past 50 years. I did have a 75 Mach 1 with a 302 V8 crammed into the front end that fried/ate the main harness and the computer. Other than that, most of my issues have been corrosion or mechanical wear issues.

Edit. The radio on my 1995 Lightning did fail at some point in the 20 teens and I was fortunate to find a NOS to replace it.

?Appliances are crazy also. Refrigerators with Wi-Fi, who the hell needs that on a fridge.
Washers with 15 different cycles when you can get by with 2.
My last washer and dryer both were 40 years old when we moved. I had to replace the water level switch and the spring clutch on the washer and that was it in 40 years. We left them with the house when we sold it. The newer house has newer appliances but still old enough to have mechanical switches and buttons. Hopefully they’ll last another 20 years or so.

Haha. Not me. If I can't see my appliances/car/lights etc status and operating mode I'm not interested.

Haha. I agree however now that I have all my appliances linked to an app and I can get updates on open fridge doors, washer/dryer cycle is done, dishwasher has run x amount of cycles and should be cleaned etc. I’m too hooked to go back lol

The 6x6x2 electronics ignition box at the time. Can’t remember anymore what they called it. Was electronics potted in an die cast box.

edit: Ford started using the electronic ignition in 1973. It was called “DuraSpark”. Dura must not of been short for Durable! They updated it in 1976.

Ok the ignition box i was confused when you said computer.I had the DuraSpark II IIRC in the 78 LTDII i had that came with a 351 M [which was a dog] so i put a 460 in it and the DuraSpark worked great with both of those engines never had a Problem with it.But like you said mine was the updated version.
