I remember my Dad brought home my Mom's new car a 65 Comet with a 427 and 4 speed, she met him on the porch yelling at him to take it back because He Knew she could not drive a 4 speed. He came back a while later with a 64 Comet with a 260 and an automatic transmission. Today I would love to have either but the 65 would be my first choice.
Your Dad should have kept it, they only made 8 of those specialty A/FX class '65 Comets with a 427.

I learned to drive on a orange Allis-Chalmers tractor, a 1931 or 32 Model AA dump truck, my Uncle's 1940 Chevy and my folks 1956 VW. Driving a stick came easy as I started driving at about 10 on the small farm.

1959 English Ford Angilia, first car was 1970 Ford Maverick. Over the years I owned a 75 Ford Pinto station wagon, 79 F-150, 2000 Ford Explorer, 1991 F-150, 2012 Ford Escape, currently 2011 F-150, 2019 Ford Ranger and 2023 Bronco Sport. Obviously, I'm a big Ford fan. The only exceptions were two Plymouth Voyager Mini vans because Fords' mini van at that time was ugly and not a very reliable vehicle.
OMG. Reading 1970 Ford Maverick made me truly lol. When I worked with USDA we had a maverick as a work vehicle. The places we took thar car. ? And the steering. We never knew where it would take us. Thank you for the memory.
