Regardless, Ford's lug nuts are crap. A class action lawsuit says they are aluminum capped.
For the record, that lawsuit was dismissed due to lack of legally viable claims. One thing I noticed right away at the link @RushMan provided is the claim the cover is made from aluminum. I could be wrong, but don't think that's the case. Why? Because when aluminum and steel come into contact with each other it creates galvanic corrosion--I don't think anyone with metal manufacturing experience would make such assemblies. I can't find anything online that specifically lists the materials used.

Another thing I noticed with the suit is the claim that "most lug nuts are one piece of hardened steel." I don't believe that's the case. Since the advent of inexpensive alloy wheels I think MOST OEs have adopted two-piece lug nuts. Why? Because you don't cover the lug nuts on an alloy wheel with a hubcap, so they have to be corrosion resistant. One-piece designs have to either be stainless or chrome plated to prevent corrosion. Stainless steel is expensive, and a one-piece stainless lug has a great deal more stainless steel than a hardened steel lug with a stainless cap.

I've made a cursory search online for info about the types of lug nuts used by manufacturers but I've not been successful. If anyone can find anything I'd be interested to read it. Two-piece lugs have been around for a long, long time. They're cost effective and corrosion resistant if properly used.

Hello!

I'm Alex and I've recently bought a 2024 Bronco Sport Big Bend. Been driving it around in the PNW and have throughly loved every minute in it. I'm thinking of waiting a bit before I start modding it, but yea I'm happy to say hello!

Hi All!

Just dropping in to learn more about the Bronco Sport Badlands. I moved to a cold climate a year and half ago. My 22 GMC Terrain’s engine has thrown reduced power warnings every time it gets to negative temps. I’d like to make the switch to something a little more powerful and suited for snow/ice.

Glad you are here Alex. I can relate to how you feel about your Bronco Sport. We had to drive into downtown Austin a couple of times last week. The little Bronco fit in and maneuvered through the heavy traffic easily. It handles easily in congested downtown traffic and rides really well on the highways.

We're currently in the second polar vortex event of the winter here in Northern Colorado and our '24 Big Bend is handling the bitter cold and snow packed roads flawlessly. The high today here was 11°! I can't speak for the Badlands model but I know there are many folks on this forum who are in similar weather areas who are eager to describe their experiences.

Good to know! It’s been a pain dealing with Terrain these past two winters. I love everything else about, but reducing engine power without warning on the highway scares me. The last time I took the car to the shop, the turbocharger failed due to the cold. 😖

Howdy,

Just purchased a new 2024 BSBB (Cactus Gray - nickname for now is "Cactus Jack"). Looking forward to doing additions / mods along the way.

On the peripheral list - AT tires, hitch, lift (nothing crazy...body or susp), recovery hooks, roof rack of some sort...etc etc etc :cwl:

So far, am loving it. Have not had a brand-new vehicle in over 20 years

Y'all have fun, stay safe, and holler at ya later !! 🤠

Hi Everyone,

I just joined the family (indirectly) by getting my son a new 24 BSBL in Eruption Green.

I've been a Jeep guy all my life but I must say Ford knocked it out of the park with this small SUV. Looks great/goes great.

Here are a couple of pics of the car and my son. He picked this spec over a 2dr Wrangler and I think he made the right choice. Most of his his use will be commuting and light trail/ fishing/camping on the weekends.

Options include 235 ATs and hitch.
