It also seems they are referring to a separated external reservoir on the big Broncos & (a lot of them do some extreme stuff , so its expected IMO ), something a stock BS doesn't have .

Our BS is wishy washy in the rear with 28K on the clock , air pressures good ,Tires look good & are factory Michelin's , which also could be a factor , they don't make them like they used to. I think its the Shocks & Bilstein's are in my future & also my Sprinter .

Bilstein's are a good shock , I installed them on my Super Duty & it made a big diff. @ 26K miles on the OEM's .

I have never had a Shock leak except when one blew out . Your going by Monroe shocks as experts , sorry , but it sounds like , its OK for our shocks to leak a little , mechanical seals should not leak unless they are compromised in some way .

I've got rough country replacements sitting in my office waiting until it's warmer to install. I started noticing the shock absorption was weaker right before this cold spell hit. Too cold to get under and do a thorough inspection but at nearly 60K miles I figured why not just replace them. Only $100 for a set. I'll report back once I switch them out.

And for the guy that commented about a $900 fix, You can replace them yourself very easily compared to many other vehicles. Everything is right inside the wheel well.

I have 2021 BS BL. Only 20k miles in almost four years. No crazy use or rough treatment. Took in today for 20k service and they also performed the recall work and checked battery and confirmed no issues.
However, service tech apparently noticed that rear shocks are starting to leak. Anyone else have this issue. Seems very strange for this to happen at 20k. And it’s a $900 fix. I call bullshit. Either it’s not really a problem or they are inferior shocks.

My 2021 Bronco Sport shocks are leaking at just 16K miles. I only drive around town nothing crazy. I called Ford they would do nothing for me. I called NHTSA and opened a complaint that will be investigated and sent to Ford who makes the final decision on a recall. I also sent NHTSA a follow up email with my case number and a link to this forum and a link to the rear suspension recall on the Badlands. If anyone here is having the same issue I would ask you call NHTSA @ 888-327-4236 and file a complaint. The more people who do the more likely a recall will be issued. If you have already paid to have your shocks replaced a recall would mean a refund would be issued.

Were the shocks under warranty when they were leaking and also were you provided a report on if the amount of leakage meets Ford’s guidelines of a shock that needs to be replaced? (I don’t have a link handy to those guidelines)

My shocks are not under warranty of course. Nope no report but I was told I need to replace them. 900 bucks.

You may want to get a 2nd opinion on that from a shop and mechanic you trust, some amount of leakage Ford (and others) have deemed is ok. Might get a much lower price too. Good luck!!

Yes a dealer quote is much higher than a Mom and Pop shop. I actually have friend who owns his own shop and is really good. It’s also harder to get a refund if a recall is issued if you go outside of a dealer. What I really want is a recall since 16K miles with a shock leak on a car driven around town...really. I was hoping if I posted on this thread others may file a complaint with NHTAS to up the chances of a recall.

Bronco Sports (ā€˜21-ā€˜22 at least) are known for shock leaks but typically the amount is within Ford’s specs so may not be an issue if so

Hard to know how your dealership treated the leak when they wrote up for you to replace - I would be skeptical
