Very interesting. ?
I'm not quite sure if it could have been added or not. My Bronco had some other features that don't normally come standard with it. I think that's why I keep discovering things that weren't supposed to be on it.

Yes, I hear it unlocking before I reach for the handle
Perhaps post a video with good quality sound demonstrating the vehicle unlocks prior to reaching for the handle

What features, can you list them please?

Also … what you might be hearing are the typical sounds the Bronco Sport makes when you walk by with the keyfob

But those sounds aren’t the distinctive sound the vehicle makes when unlocking the doors by touching the unlock sensor on the backside of the door handle

The vehicle is not designed to unlock with just the FOB being near the vehicle. The user with the FOB has to take an action to unlock the doors.

There is no touch sensor on the backside of the front door handles. Try this, lock the doors, without physically touching anything, slide your hand behind the front door handle. You will hear the doors unlock.

To lock the doors, make sure the FOB is on or near you, take your index finger and touch the ribbed area on the topside of either front door handle until you hear the doors lock. This is the area that has the 5 ribs.

All true! I must just not know what magic "key words" to use when looking something up. I got frustrated when finding something saying "see page xxx", going to that page and having refer you back to the first page I looked at. Anyway, with all of you helping, I tested it all and it all worked.

I have a special pocket in my purse for the key fob...it seems THAT is the only thing I've done right! ?
Cargo pants serve as a wearable purse for guys. I keep mine in one pocket all by themselves. One for the wallet, one for the phone, and one for readers. Haven't found anything to put in the back pockets permanently; they serve as temporary tool holders at home. ;)

Don’t worry about it. That’s what forums are for. It took me months to figure out all the new gadgets on this car. The last new car I bought was 16 years ago. I learned a lot here - thanks everyone! Great bunch of people here.

I keep the fob in my pocket (also cargo pants) walk up to the door, grab the handle, wait a split second and open the door. All doors unlock,. I’m sure you can use the sync screen to set it so only the drivers door will unlock. When I get out I hit the lock button inside, or close the door and tap the top of the door handle. Lights flash to confirm it’s locked. Never even think about the fob unless I forgot to grab it when leaving the house.

Late getting back on this, but i feel the exact same way! My last car was a 2011 and it barely had automatic windows...LOL. To say THIS wonderful new Pony is a bit daunting, is a bit understated...I don't know what I don't know. With the help from the people on this forum, a lot has been solved! I took this all to heart and I CAN now do all I wanted as far as locking and unlocking. SCORE!

I think both are correct - there is a touch sensor on the backside as stated in the manual but on mine at least, my fingers don’t have to physically touch a sensor before the door unlocks

I wonder if the sensor is capacitive and fingers in close proximity is enough
