A Car and Driver article said this: "A Ford engineer tells us owners can upgrade to 30.5-inch tires without any clearance problems, but 31s won't fit without increasing the height of the suspension."
I Have a 2022 BS Badlands with 245/70/R17 Falken Wildpeak A/T's at 30.5" in diameter with a 1.75" lift kit. It was necessary to make a minor trim to the pinch seam at the rear part of the front fender wells to get the tires to fit without rubbing. All told the lift and the tires gives my just over 11" of ground clearance.

What lift kit did you use?
I finally got a chance to take my Badlands out on a rough road. I dropped the left wheel down into a large rut and heard something scrape. It was the weird cardboard carpet (like the wheel wells) thing on the drivers side that should be a skidplate but isn't. The front of it ripped over the bolts holding it, and was hanging down to the ground. There is wiring, and what I believe is the gas line up under that carpet. I need a lift.

Wow - that side-by-side pic makes the difference pretty clear.
