Clear vehicle's HomeLink system of all programming settings: press and hold the outer two HomeLink buttons until the indicator light changes from solid to flashing rapidly (about 10 seconds).

Garage door programming:

note: this may not work for all types of garage door openers:

Switch on the ignition to accessory position. Place garage door opener 1-3” from the HomeLink buttons on the Visor. Using both hands, simultaneously press the functioning button on the garage door opener and press the desired HomeLink button (1, 2, or 3). Hold until HomeLink LED flashes slowly and continue to hold until HomeLink LED flashes rapidly. Release both buttons. The change in flashing indicates the HomeLink button has learned the garage door opener signal.

To add to what Dude said. After you do that you need to learn the vehicle to the door opener. hit the learn button on the opener and press the homelink button. You may have to hit the button twice
